Hi guys, I´m thinking about this Top Flite kit. Anybody know, where to buy razorback canopy and what is the average weight of this warbird?

Omni Models. They have everything you need and are a good trusted seller. Actually a lower price division of Tower Hobbies.

OK, I have started my electric conversion. Not sure what motor I will be using, or if I will be using 10s or 12s battery, so I am making room for either. These pics show how I made the front battery hatch. Should be plenty of room for all the needed "stuff" up front, and hopefully I won't need any ballast to balance. I will be extending the motor box a couple inches, so the batteries will be able to be even further forward if needed. Plan to have a tray to mount the batteries that will will slip in and out of the fuse, so I don't have to deal strapping the batteries down in the hole.
Hopefully these pics are self explanatory.

as far as heat is concerned use Bob Violett ceramic based paint. as far as the engine running hot due to exhaust is due to too much back pressure and adjusting the mixture with a properly sized exhaust is not an issue. this is a DLE 55 RA that has compression raised and ported and the pipes are laid at different angles due to engine offset but come out properly located. I have not yet made my vents that will be attached with number 0 screws.

For those interested I meant to say the pipes will be coated with the ceramic paint where it enters the fuselage and this will keep the heat internally in the pipe. I have many air vents and the rear edge of the aluminum plate has a 2 mm air gap to the former so it bleeds heat from that area also. if you go on Bob Violetts website you will see them use a propane torch on cardboard and it will not ignite. pretty cool stuff for 21 bucks delivered.no smell and water clean up. the jet guys use it on their fuselages with exhaust temps of 1000C.

I just made a deal for a power system for my P-47 electric conversion. Will be using an E-Flite Power 360, with a Castle Creations 160A esc, and 12s battery. Will use 24x12, or 26x12 prop. Should be about the equivalent of a 60cc gasser.

Received my motor, esc, and batteries this past week. Got a little more building done too. Hope to get a good bit more construction done this weekend.
That's 5 1/2 lbs of batteries under the hatch. Will have a lot of room to move forward or back as needed to balance.

How difficult would it be to squeeze a DLE 85 in the cowl? I know guys do it, just wondering how it all fits.

85cc engines tend to shake the airframe apart, at least according to several previous posters in P-47 threads. I think one of the 61cc engines would be a good choice. 10 percent bigger than a 55cc engine.

I wonder how I could justify a 3rd giant scale P-47 in my basement.........

Lifer, No Worries mate, this will be my 4th GS P47. I'm gonna use the EME 60 with the electric start in mine. I like the EME over the DLE simply because the EME uses the Walbro carb and the DLE's use the Chinese carb that's not quite the quality and doesn't seem to perform as well.

Captainron...Hurry up and get that bird down here to Phx! My Saito 60R3 is begging to be stuffed in the cowl.
Lifer...There's always room for another JUG!
Chad... Is there another bird to have besides a jug?? This makes what?....My eighth Jug in my fleet!

I'm wrestling with a similar dilemma, that being multiple giant scale P47's,I'm sure I'll figure something out.

SWORDSN,
Might possibly do a build thread. It would be my first one. Problem is, I don't work steady on a model. I might work like a dog for a week and then not touch it again for a month. I usually have two projects going at a time. We'll see, thjat might be fun. I'm gonna use her for a winter project.
