Guys,

Can any of you recommend a build thread for the conversion of a P47 D to the razorback version. I have a RTC P47 on order and want to make it into a racorbzck. I just can't find one that shows the conversion process.

http://wyliewarbirds.com/ used to sell a conversion, but I don't see it on the site now. Might contact them.

contact Terry Farmer at Wyliewarbirds.com He'll make you a conversion. It's a very nice fiberglass razorback and very easy to use.

Anyone know the cowl width on the new TF P47 Razorback ARF? Thinking possibly a twin..... DA70, DLE60. DA70 10.78 inches ( 273.8 mm ) wide, the DLE60 is 276 mm wide.

We've decided to take the plunge and take out the DA50 and put in a DA85. Will update as we progress. Have already ordered the special muffler from JTec

Likely the same as the Tar Heel Hal version which is not much more than 9 inches wide. Not likely you'll find twin to fit inside there. The EME 70 is advertised as 9 7/8 cap to cap so you may be able to get away with just the plug caps sticking out on that one.

Question for the guys who have built their P-47 from a kit:
What engine are you using, and how much weight, nose or tail, did you add to get a good balance?
Thanks

I used a Zenoah G62 with electronic ignition conversion. I did not add any weight and is balanced 1/4 inch aft of the recommended CG. The plane flies perfectly. If you use the magneto version, it should balance per the plan without adding any nose weight. Be mindful of the fact that my batteries are as far forward as they can be. I also used a fiberglass specialties cowl with full resin dummy radial and chin cowl. This adds about an extra pound of weight.

I used an EME 55 in mine and no additional nose weight.

Hey Chris, good to see you on here, and at the Warbirds event at SMMAC this last summer. Quite a coincidence to see a fellow Mn-sotan on RCU. Big time snow is just around the corner!

I just re-maidened my silver F86 Saber Dog turbine at Tim's field after giving it a heart transplant. That's my way of referring to changing out the receiver. I switched from Spektrum DX18 to a Futaba 14SG. I originally subscribed here because my son was building a Top Flite P51, which has since crashed due to lockout. I AM building a Top Flite Corsair this winter though.

Fantastic Rick! Good Luck on the build. My winter project is a full kit build of the TF GS P-51. Glad all is well with the Sabre.

U running a 2,3 or 4 blade prop with the FG-60? Mine has a G-62 with home made muffler. Not the fastest but very reliable. And yes the FG sounds great, does it sound that good in the air?

I'm currently flying this airplane with a 4 blade 18x10 biela prop. Plenty of power and looks good too Its the same prop you see in the above video.

Very nice however no one and at one time including me has noticed the R-2800 sits WAY back in the Jugs cowl and in the case of our R/C versions the power plant that most flyers use being gas takes up that space. You guys into electrics can probably place your electric motor just behind the gear box

It has been awhile since my last post, I am slowly making progress and want to know what size height wise will I need for the letters that will go on the side of the fuselage fore/aft of the stars and bars. Also does anyone know if the roundels on the wing and fuselage were black and white for the D-Day invasion.

Haefeli,

What prop and engine do you have in your P-47? The plane looks real good, bye the way!
