Follow Todd's advice to the letter and you will be pleased. I also recommend low rates on the elevator. The plane is as well mannered as a plane can be. Here's a video of my second flight, all on the recommended low rates:

Looks awesome. Are you running the Robart electric retracts, or pneumatic? If you are running electric, did you find the control box plugs to be kinda cheap, and not effective? Mine plug into the box, but the box is made of this cheap thin plastic, and I ended up having to hot-glue them in in order for them to hold. Not very happy with that, so wondering if you ran into the same issue and what you might have done to fix it.

Thanks.

I really like the way you did the rivet detail and weathering. Not too much but enough to highlight the model. It gave me some ideas for mine.

Cheers

Ricko, for scale surface finish check web site: www.nsmodelers.rs

For P 47 you can find all sets to made surface like on scale model, Mirce Finish Set, Detail Set for Thunderbolt, Extra rivets set, Paint masc for stars and bars...
On web site you can find a lot of pictures how to step by step apply sets on model and how finished P 47 model looks.

Shipping worldwide is just 15,00$.

Regards

Mirce

Hi Mirce,

I have followed some of your builds and the finishes are great. I will definitely have a look at your site when the time comes to finishing the T-bolt. I'm just finishing the wing so I still have a long way to go, maybe by Christmas. I'm still dreaming about what she will look like at the end.

Cheers,

Rick

Those planes were equipped to drop a lifeboat to airmen down in the English Channel.

Lifer, your low pass at 1:20 was exactly why I got another Jug. Looked so 1945 going down low across Germany!

My first Jug was 5th ERS scheme, yellow Razorback with 3W-50.

Also note on the fuse just aft of the trailing edge is four smokes that could be independently dropped used to mark the downed crewmen. They had to be careful as some ditches left oil,gas near the downed bombers. Picture show faintly black cylinder with orange fins.

also most had "WW" on the vertical fin below the serial number signifying: War Weary
Many flew with only 4 machine guns instead of normal 8.

Firebee,

Glad you enjoyed the video. A member of the club filmed and edited it for me. I could have done without the extras, but it was a nice effort on his part.

I say people don't have enough info, one should add either a leader or credits saying What, Where, When and Who. A little AC specs are nice too. Just saying ... Hard to cut any thing out but keep it short more people will watch it to the end. This was too long too & Shaky and Out of focus too. I was nervous, but Just check out the intro.Says a lot quickly. But your Buddy "DID GOOD"

I remember watching that video a while back. The second year of operating my Tarheel Hal, I had several gear-up landings. Later discovered that the airtank was revolving and tied the airline into a knot. Have since remedied that problem.

Too much zoom....makes it hard to keep up with the action and adds lots of shake.

It takes a lot of practice and a lot of Thinking to take GOOD Video especially of R/C models. I've found your shake is Like Anything reduced with practice. A good steady cam or shoulder brace works too.
Oh also I have a paint ball "Dot Sight" $16, on the left side of the camera to acquire the target and keep the RED DOT just a head of the Plane, Don't even need to look thru the viewfinder. Just have remember to look now and then and be sure U haven't got the camera recording when U think it's in stand by. Oh and where the zoom is. Full Zoom when they are close in or wide angle on down wind and ground shots are a big disappointment in the Edit Suite. I Mean in my Lazy Boy in the living room. Good luck to anyone trying to make a living at any kind of video.

Manuel,

My Top Flite giant P-47 is about 5 years old. I fly exclusively on low-rates on aileron, rudder and elevator per the assembly manual recommendations. That, plus about 25 percent expo, as well. I also balance at the rear-most recommended position. Check an earlier post and you can see a video of the second flight.
