Thinking about a engine switch on my P-47. Instead of the GP 88, thinking about going with the new Saito 90cc radial. Have to sell some stuff to off set the cost first. On the build it self, got the Sierra retracts install and the retract in the tail. Should be ready to start covering in a few weeks. If I go for the Saito, will probably get it at the Toledo Show in April. Plenty of time to save up.

There is a thread on mounting the FG84 in the TF P-47. https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...Video-Added%21
He said, "I don't have any close ups, but I can tell you it's just the valve covers that portrude through the cowl, with the top ones sticking out the most. I used the stock mounting refference, so I suppose you could mount it a little lower to hid them a bit more."

For all TF P-47 builders and owners I´m preparing new resin scale instrument panel. The model for mold is almost done. I must add more screws and repair some wrong holes. The resin gunsights is already available.

And so it begins...
Hello everybody,
finally I'm starting to build my P-47, which is probably going to be a slow and long adventure. As usual the tail control surfaces come first, and I'm already considering a first modification.
I want to give the hinge lines a more scale-ish look by moving the hinge axis somewhat backwards into the rudder and elevators, to have them mounted in a hollow. It would probably be impractical to move the axis as far back as in the original, maybe going as far back as the "Elevator/Rudder LE Spar" should be enough to achieve a somewhat working molded hollow mount (Is that the correct term? My technical English isn't too good.), considering that the control surface throws are not going to be that big. That, and some cut-outs and balsa blocks to indicate the original hinge positions and the curve at the outer ends, will hopefully add some more character to the plane as compared to the straight, beveled hinge line.
I seem to remember already having seen something like that somewhere in the many pages of this thread, but I can't find it right now. If you guys like to share some experiences/suggestions about hinge line modifications, they'd be very appreciated.
It would probably be a good idea for me to actively avoid turning into a scale fanatic, or I'll never finish this plane within the decade. This is my biggest project so far, by an order of magnitude, and I'm not at all a fast builder. But all those fantastic builds in this thread are a great source of inspiration, so my ambitions a soaring sky high at the moment, and it remains to be seen whether or not my skills can keep up with them.
Now back into the workshop...
Regards,
Hardy

Here is my P-47 with a little weathering and detailing. It will be at Toledo at the Hobbico booth if any one wants to check it out in person or has any questions on the model.
Thanks,
Dan
