The Spitfires are finally in and we are starting the process of getting the initial orders out to the customers.
The website has been changed from the pre order status to it's shipping ready now as off this afternoon.

Here you go as promised, a picture of the front of the fuselage and the retracts. As you can see, the plywood box comes not epoxied together so you can make the choice of engine power or electric power. The top of the box is completely open so as to easily install the tank, or the motor and battery wiring with ESC. You will notice how accessible the forward compartment is as you lift the canopy hatch away and easy access for your battery. I didn't take a picture of the "Electric" plywood box that fits over this one, but it is designed to move the firewall forward to be used with electric motors. It slides over this box. The socket head bolt is used for the engine choice to help in anchoring the electronic ignition module and engine battery if needed.
These are the pictures of the retracts, pretty straight forward and there has been great assurance from the factory a great deal of money and engineering has gone into these mechanisms. The retracts come with aluminum hubbed rubber wheels with a brass bushed bearing for the axle. These retracts now depend on a separate7.4 volt battery for powering them. There is an outboard controller board that plugs into the battery, the radio and the retracts. The retracts come with a scale looking tailwheel, and the wheels.
Take a look inside the hatch! The first thing you will notice is design, design, and better design. The battery can easily be slipped into the nose where the tank goes and you have it. The first thing I noticed was the fiberglass wasn't white like most planes I have unpacked. You are looking at the "Sandwiched Material" that is between two layers; I am not separating the layers to confirm what it is just for you guys, but that is why the entire airframe is so light and strong... You gotta love it!

I had to remove the firewall on the version I received so i just removed thiose triangle balsalist and carefully pulled apart before I made new measurements and new slots. Added some pictures to let U see.
Unfortuneately I don`t have any with the new firewall. The original slots was just made a little longer aft and the same firewall was glued back again and reinforced with balsa triangles.
I do hope Top Rc Model will make some other wing fasteners on the new projects. To much time and tight places to get them in place with the screws. This could be done very much easier. the sideforces here are nothing

Maybe wrong but the EME 35 is a great choice for the Spitfire.
here's some teaser pictures of the coming models.
The new TopRCModel 93" Zero test flew yesterday very successfully. It uses an 55CC DLE engine, electric retracts and aluminum spinner.
We expect to be shipping to customers by September/ October of this year as we take delivery of these and the P-51D 89 inch 60CC.
All wlll be sold on Gator-RC.com and thru a small group of select dealers.

My plane showed up on Wednesday, and I wasted no time in unboxing it and piecing it together. For my money it's a very pretty example. I think they did a pretty good job with it over-all. Only three things I had any heartburn with. The two forward exhaust stacks on the left side were broken off (already reattached with Hysol), one of the cannon barrels doesn't match the paint on the wing, and the instruction manual leaves something to be desired...not very explicit in its instructions. All minor issues, but items of note. Looking forward to getting my gear and pitts style muffler still, but lots of work to do before any of that is needed.
I also put a Biela 16x8 4 blade carbon fiber prop on my EME 35 and run it on my test stand. With a Xoar 19x8, the EME has been producing about 16 pounds (after a few runs) on the fish scale...assuming losses due to friction, the scale set-up, etc..., its probably closer to 18-19 pounds of thrust. With the 4 blade, the number dropped to the 13-14 pound range. Certainly a lost, but again assuming inefficiencies in my test-stand set-up, it should make more than enough thrust to fly the Spit with authority.

Today at the Hoffman Estates Illinois F3A contest we showed off our hanger of TopRCModel planes.
The response was overwhelming. Everyone we talked to agreed that the planes are outstanding and setting a new standard for excellence and value.
Plans are that the P-51 89" WS 5th scale and the Zero 5th scale 93" planes will be added to our arsenal in late September.
We will be opening up for pre sales on the 2 new planes soon as we have a limited amount due on the first shipment.
The Spitfire and our new all composite F3A Caelus are in stock and shipping now.
We are awaiting the video's of the P51 and Zero flying. Once I receive them we will start the new threads on RCU on both planes.

Mups53: Mike thanx for the update. Would it be pssible to post some pics of the nose area of the P-51D. Say, a side view of the nose from the windscreen to the spinner tip and some showing the shape of the air intake under the spinner? I'm trying to see how the nose countours look. Also, what is the spinner diameter?

For those who have built the plane already, what wheels did you use?
For those that care, I got a set if century jet retracts and am in the process of installing. So far seems to be going OK...had to widen the gap through which the mechanism slips at the mounting point. Sourced gear door mounting collars through Dons Hobby shop. Per above, looking for a source for good wheels...so far only wheels I found that look right are some 4.25" Hanger 9 wheels.
For that matter, is anyone even interested in my build?
