You're still doing better than me! No suitable field to fly a plane this size from right now. Should have access to a good field by the end of the month. At least we have a year round flying season...otherwise I'd be really bummed at the moment!

Got the Douglas Bader livery finished on my Spit (actually a while ago), just need to hit it with some weathering and a clear coat. Question is: what's missing? A pilot figure! Does anyone know of a good source for a British pilot figure?

Got the 1/6 british pilot from warbirdpilots.com. I had to trim the seat area some to make him fit.

Hello Alf,I am installing an FG-40 in my TOPRC SPIT. It was in my H9 ex-Spit that I hadtoo many dead stick. The final dead stick the corn field was just not close enoughafter a touch and go...I concluded(with help of some members of different blogs) that my FG-40 sucked hot airaccumulated in the top of the engine cowl. Have you encountered this phenomenon?I do not see much opening on your cowl. Have you installed a pipe to suck airfrom the inside of the airplane?

Cooling is is definitely an issue. A few have installed baffles to good effect. I was able to open up the cowling enough to get things to cool to the point that it'll run consistently, but also plan to use some baffling to improve things.

Here's a shot from underneath mine showing how much I opened it up. In hindsight, I might have opened the exit a bit too much...

Beautiful! Love the pilot figure and the slow mo flybys. Do you plan to put the gear doors on, or are going to leave them off?

One broke and the struts aren't exactly straight from a bad landing so until I can get a set of new struts and gear doors I'll have to leave it as is. I sent an e-mail to Top RC two weeks ago and I've gotten no answer concerning buying a new pair of struts

Seems like parts can be problematic with this plane. Mine gear doors were slightly damaged in my hard landing, also need one cannon barrel (ground down the end on said landing).

I see Tower Hobbies and Vqwarbirds are carrying this model. Maybe they stock parts.

I saw that too...checked and didn't find anything, but I might be missing something.

I e-mailed, called and had to leave a message with Magnum RC concerning parts for the spit. It's been two weeks and no return e-mail or phone call

That's been my impression of Magnum customer service. I asked on the FB page, and they simply said call Magnum. It's like they want you to buy their plane, then go away. If this was a $200 foamie, it would be a little more understandable...even then, I'd be annoyed...

I got mine from Gator RC. I just send a request for information on parts availability. I am hoping for a maiden flight in just a few more days, weather permitting.

Meant Gator (they're the ones with a FB page), but haven't heard from Magnum since I bought the plane...

Chck my posts 358 & 371 for electric set up. Flys great and 8 min flights are the norm. No sound system though. Could probably sub that for the nose weight needed.

My spitfire was electric when my fellow club member owned it. Unfortunately it caught fire on the first flight. Used a 100amp ESC instead of a 125amp. He had sound system installed also

Seems like cooling is a challenge for this bird! You thinking of doing baffles?
