hi Greg.. your Wildcat looks amazing. You'll have to let me know when you plan to fly it again. I'd like to come and to see it. I think I've finally worked out all the bugs in the Bearcat. I've never seen a Fishers kit before and curious as to you overall feeling of the quality. your photos really show some great detail. rob

Hi Rob,
Thanks for the kind words. As far as the next time i fly it. It might not be until i go down to Georgia for a fly-in at the beginning of November.
As far as the quality of the kit. When it first arrived at the house and i opened up the box i was absolutely amazed with the detail that was put into the mold
Gunter Fischer does a fantastic job of laying up the parts.

Bough a used Wildcat and did my remaiden yesterday. Flew extremely well and was quite more floater than expected. The Moki 215 works good but got 140 degrees Celsius and I think that is well above what I like so need a baffling modification.

It's not the baffling.. It is probably the same issue i was having and it all has to do with the exit openings of the cowl flaps.
Mine ended up needing to have the cowl moved out to were the edge of the cowl was just overlapping the front of the fuselage lip.
If you can post some pictures of the plane with the cowl on and the cowl off i might be able to help to solve the issue.
The hottest i have seen my engine get to after a flight is 185 degrees F.

Hello Greg,
Name here is Steve and I just took delivery of Fischer Wildcat purchased through Gotz Vogelsang. He sent me an email with a short explanation of the landing gear install, but I'm finding it a bit confusing as to method and what actually needs to be done to prepare the fuselage and the landing gear assembly for installation. If I could contact you for some first hand information, it would be very helpful. Thanks, Steve

I've never seen a Hell cat painted in grey and white as they were never used in the same roll as the Wildcat was that i have modeled mine after.

Greg's Wildcat wears the color scheme devised for aircraft operating in the Atlantic. It can be found on the Dauntless, Avenger, and Helldiver as well but most historians agree it was not used on the Hellcat or the Corsair. Those Corsairs you have seen in the grey over white scheme were all post-war aircraft that were still in service when the Navy changed from overall dark blue to grey/white in early 1955. The Hellcat was out of squadron service before then however. As such I personally have never seen a Hellcat in any form of grey/white camo.

Interesting stuff,, thanks guys! I allways though the Hellcat was a better fighter than the wildcat so its interesting that the hellcat and the corsair would take a back seat to the wildcat...I know the corsair had issues with carriers but was resolved by the carrier approach for one...but was unaware of the Hellcat having problems. What role was the wildcat used in the Atlantic?
