July 4 (Independence day) family club flyin at Miami RC in Xenia, Ohio.
35 miles.
A 600' all grass runway using part of a farmers field.
First really nice day we've had in about three weeks of rain (good timing).
Everyone had a good time. Always good to have the spouses there as the food was outstanding.
Keith had a highly modified TBM (I believe) 190. Plenty of power with a 111 (again, if I remember correctly.) with Darrell's gear (the original gear didn't last long).

Ohio Dawn Patrol in Harrison, Ohio.
Miles: 40
A nice, all grass, double X runway field ideally suited for WW I.
First started in 2008.
43 pilots and a good 80 planes, the bulk of them 1/3 scale.
Paul and Michele run the event and always does a great job. Saturday's evening meal is a full hog cooked all day

Aug. 1/2:GCRCC annual Circus at Butler county airport, Ohio.
Miles: 15
A 4 hour show put on for the general public where the airport shuts down the airport during this period.
One of the taxi ways is used for the show.
There are multiple flying events, each lasting about 6-8 minutes, ranging from balloon busts to pear harbor, doolittle raid and space shuttle blast off.
The bulk of profits, $8000-10000, for the year are donated to a local charity.
This is about the 55th year for this event.
The club members bring out about 200 different planes for the show.

Aug. 13-15, Warbirds and classics over the midwest at fond du lac, Wisconsin.
Miles: 550
A very large (1300'X300') all grass runway, ideally suited for the 150 warbird pilots that show up.
I got there on Tuesday, people were already setting up and Wednesday looked like a flying day.
Thursday was pizza/beer night and Saturday was the pulled pork/beer night.
A truely outstanding event put on by a great group of people.
This was the 9th event and I think I have attended 7 of them: definitely worth the trip.
There were 4 ziroli hellcats.
Scott's ziroli P-47.
Matt's ziroli F4U.

Around 4 of the robart's P-47's were there.
Several jets present: Grass is cut very short and ground very level so even the 72" panther has no trouble on takeoffs or landings.
Along with the 118", there were 3 other 101" B-25's.
Oklahoma's planes: Howard, Dick and Jim (last 3, and first two of next post)
