Servo tray wooden tabs
So I started the build on my P-51 and the servo trays don’t have the wooden tabs to mount my servos.... I’ve viewed as much as I can about this and most photos show the tabs already installed and I can’t find any discussion about anyone fabricating these either... it came from the factory like this. So please tell me if I’m missing something here or the factory didn’t install them or do I have to fabricate this myself?? Any help would be great.

thanks for the input, I’ll have to do that. I did see one photo of someone installing the wooden blocks to the hatch cover so I just needed confirmation to go that route. Just need to find the material to do it now. I wish they would have provided this for the build. Thanks Garrettkub

yeah the manual you download is half worthless lot of thing's have changed but not in the manual you should have received the hard wood block's in the kit if not I found some kit's at esprit flush mount servo set I would also order there hatch latch heavy duty my latch broke 2 times just braking in the engine and taxi test I had big problem's with the Robart elect retracts had to belly land on my maiden flite I sent my gear to down and locked to get a Robart Reconverion done he dose a lot of them also make sure all the hinges are lined up mine were out and the control surfaces wouldn't move much cost another 500 to get the gear done but I just wouldn't fly with the Robart crap again and the pull pull cables I would replace theres a few more thing but there in the thred if need anything just ask good luck

Hi,
Are people using the Robart gear that Tower sells for this bird? Is Top-RC making their own? I wouldn't touch Robart electrics with a 10' pole if I didn't have to (based on all the feedback plus Tower not wanting to deal with after-purchase issues directly) so I'm curious what the current experience is with gear for this plane.

Yes TopRC makes their own gear. I personally like them . Its the only electrics that I have used so far that work consistently. I have 4 planes using them and with 100 or so flights only had one screw jack break loose. A fellow club member held it in place to see how much force it had ( it was an accident ) but the jack screw stripped. On the bright side you can buy the motor/ jackscrew assembly for like $20.
I ordered 4 to have on hand for any given time needed. Go to Gator-rc.com

These are the Robart retro fit ones.
TopRc manufactures their own set of gear specifically to the aircraft. They are plug and play. Robart also makes a retro-fit set that can be purchased also if you want. I have had both and not knocking Robarts, have used them for years, but the TopRC are much nicer, beefier and more robust. Gator /Caiman /Robart are affiliated in some way not sure how Never asked . They share distribution sources or something.
With their affiliation it would make good business since to incorporate product lines if possible to increase sales.
Again, I personally like the TopRC line of products THEY WORK.

Yes. The Roto 85 provides plenty of power and sounds GOOD in the air. I have tried a couple of props now and so far the best results I have had is a Menz 24x12
2-blade. Keeping in mind that the Roto is a LOW Rpm engine you want a high pitch.
For looks, I was hoping the biela 22x10-4blade 23x10-blade would work, but air speed was on the low end. Motor is strong and very dependable so far. Engine fits within the cowl with only 1/2 of the front rocker cover protruding through. Everyone always asks , What engine is that?
My opinion having two Mustangs one "Blondie" with the DLE85 and the other "Gunfighter" with the Roto 85. I SAY , go with the Roto85 setup it makes a better combo if it is within your budget. Very scale performance. Once off the ground and airborne it powers through the air like a real warbird!
The DLE has more power but the Roto is more than enough and sounds good.

Not any cooling issues so far. I put a baffle in the cowl and at the firewall to direct the air trough pretty good. I have a temp sensor on the rear cylinder so I can monitor it. The highest has been 227 degrees F with a normal average 180-190 per run. It logs the highest number hit after shut down. I do not have any videos. I will see if any of my other club members will do it for me.
I will get some better pics when I have time. I popped the spinner of real quick for these.
Guess I cant do pics anymore it wont let me???? asking for URLs
