Hello everyone!
The members of the Wings Miniature Aircraft Society of Lubbock, Texas wish to announce the eighth annual, WEST TEXAS WARBIRDS event on August 28th, 29th and 30th, 2015!
Come join us for a great weekend flying your military aircraft in campaign colors and markings. Scale military helicopters are also welcome! This event will be held at the club field in Abernathy, Texas, just a few miles north of Lubbock, on I-27. Landing fee is $30.00 and will include a meal ticket for the onsite food vendor (combo meal), good for Saturday. Onsite concessions, cool souvenir shirts, pilot door prizes and raffle items will all be available. Participants will be eligible for five beautiful awards that include Best WWII, Best Modern, People's Choice and Best Scale Flight and CD's Choice.
The Wings' club field is BIG and features a newly paved runway and an adjacent grassy area, suitable for larger aircraft use. The field has ZERO obstructions, so you will not hit a tree or run off the end of the runway at this field! The wide open flying area is perfect for larger aircraft, multi-engined craft, turbine jets or whatever your warbird heart desires. The field has provisions for 6 pilot stations, two large startup areas and has a 110' covered pit awning. Easy-Up portable shades are welcome. Motor homes are welcome for overnight camping, but no hook-ups are available. Several moderately priced hotels and restaurants are a short drive away in Lubbock. Will be working on a good discount option so check back for help.
If you haven't been to participate, you're simply missing out on a great flying event. We have had no flooding this year and the field is great! Come join us!
Please see our event website at www.westtexaswarbirds.com or contact me for any questions.

This is gonna be the best yet with our new runway, several new aircraft not seen before, and lots of action. This is one you definitely don't want to miss, especially if your field has been flooded out this year with the heavy rains. We also had rains, but really helped the grass grow, and our runway and pit area was high enough so we had no damage. This event will be a great way to spend some exciting quality vacation time. Hope to see everybody next month.........last weekend in August!! You all come on over and fly with us. Guaranteed to be a lot of fun and excitement.
Regards, Les

Gentlemen:
Our club is pleased to announce the completion on the re-paving of our runway just in time for this year's West Texas Warbirds and West Texas Jets in October. Guys, this is a big deal and the now 45' X 1000' runway is begging for your participation this year. We also should have the new paving line-stiped in a few days. It looks be beautiful! Also have some new chain link pilot station barriers that replaced our old ratty looking PVC ones.
Come on! Its calling!

2015 West Texas Warbirds - Photo DVD
This year, the WingsMAS club will be offering a photo compilation from the event on DVD. As usual, I will be shooting photos throughout most of the 3-day event. The photos in the opening post of this thread (except for the Mig-15) are shots of mine from previous events. I will also be taking photos of the pits and start-up area. Additionally, I'm happy to shoot any requested photos of your model(s)...just ask. See further examples below. The DVD will contain all of my photos from the weekend, minus the bad or repetitive shots that I'll filter out.
The cost of the photo DVD will be $10, which includes shipping to your home. The DVDs will be completed and shipped within one week of the event. All proceeds from the sale of DVDs will go directly to the club.
If you have any questions or suggestions regarding this project, feel free to email me: terrydunn74-at-gmail.com

Memorable photos, Terry!
Except my Reaction. That one is from West Texas Jets.
I want to be the first to RSVP for a personal photo shoot.
Thanks!

Yeah, you need a travel buddy. Split fuel and hotel costs. Makes it easier. Just put on your Johnny Cash CDs and you'll be here in no time. Just a little over five hours.

Bryan,
OK, so Greg will be making the event again with me. He'll be bringing (2) P-47s (Bubble Top and Razorback). My Sist FW-190 has been acting up so I've opted to bring my ESM Sea Fury instead. Can't see driving all that way just to work on my plane!

We'll see you Thursday about mid afternoon?

We had great flying weather all weekend. At least one plane was in the air at all times...usually more. Very few crashes this year too. Good times.
Thanks to all who came out and made it a fabulous event.

Here's a sampler of my photos from the weekend (I have lots more). It's not too late to buy a DVD with all of the photos. $10 gets you the DVD and we'll mail it to your home. All proceeds benefit the WingsMAS RC Club.

So glad you guys had a great time. Couldn't have done it without all the help from my fellow club members! A huge thank you to everyone who help in some way to make it another successful year!
Was really proud of the number of quality airplanes we had this year. Super!
