Default Top Flight giant scale p-51 ARF pitch sensitivity

I maiden my TR p-51 ARF last night and i noticed that it was really pitch sensitive. i was wondering if it's the nature of the beast. take off was fine with a steady climb out. i leveled off and noticed right away that it wanted to climb so i dialed in some down elevator to get it flying level . i triple checked the balance and i'm right on the money with a very slight nose down balance inverted ,gear down. i flew on low rate the whole flight and the plane seemed to handle fine other that the elevator was sensitive. landing was good and it felt ok as long as you respected the elevator stick. i'm curious to know if this is a normal trait. i haven't added expo yet but i really need to. any thoughts? Warbird,

I am currently flying 3 TF P51's. All of mine are nose heavy, some by as much as 3 oz's. They settle and land with more authority. I also fly mine on high rates as stated in the manual, and with 30% expo on all surfaces.
That being said, all my wings have been redone for 10% ( scale) dihedral. This also helps on stability. Put some expo on your radio, that should take away some of the sensitivity.

I have moved the CofG forward on mine as well, probably half an inch, makes for a smoother flight, I think it makes them a lot better to land as well.
also as Chris has said, use 30% expo, you could also cut back on the throws a bit, 5% at a time.

If the throws are set per instructions ,additional elevator throw is not needed . I would add some nose weight . They are very sensitive to pitch unless nose heavy. The nose should drop noticeably but not dramatically.

If it's acting pitchy up-and-down in flying, it's more than likely tail heavy

Not only have it a tad nose heavy but add some Expo to your elevator. You'll grow to love it.

ok ... I got back from warbirds over Delaware and I did fly the stang. before I did , I moved the battery forward from the back wing mounting plate up to just behind the fuel tank and it did help a lot . so I think I might take some of the tail weight out of it also " 8 oz. " is what's back there now. thanks for the input , WB_1

I always fly nose heavy . I was just going by what TF recommended. I learned that lessen with my ziroli p-38 a few years back.
