Just about any servo you can fit will work fine. Keep in mind you'll want to make sure the arm is fairly straight when the tailwheel is down to minimize stress on the gear train. Also, if you have weight on the tail when trying to drop the gear down it's possible to overload the servo.
I think the 5087MG is about as light as you can get and still have enough power for the job, as well as metal gears. Not that a quarter ounce is any big deal, you can add a couple more ounces of lead to the nose and it's all the same.

Do you have to order the larger cowl separately? I don't see an option when ordering to specify the larger cowl and I'm guessing no one is opening the box to swap our cowls from the factory before shipping or do they now ship standard with the larger cowl?
Along the same lines, does the 'old, stock' cowl allow for the EME 70 with starter motor to fit without hacking up the cowl for the motor? If the old cowl doesn't work, does the new cowl allow for the eme 70 starter motor to fit without hacking it up?
I guess while I'm at it, what new warbirds are coming down the road soon from Top RC? Seems like they are due for something new.
thx!

Is the Robart electric gear the better system over the legacy electric gear that Mike sold and had the controller box issue? Robart eliminates the servo in the tail which I wasn't crazy about and it seems to have nicer wheels.

what's you total weight, minus fuel? Were you able to avoid adding any dead weight for balance purposes? Where are your batteries?
I have the Saito 90 on the way which is why I am very curious how your installation went and what you had to do to hopefully avoid adding any dead weight.
thanks

As always, it's worth what you pay for it. My point is that if you can build it without requiring nose weight, great. If not, are you going to not fly it? I'm building mine with an FG-84 and if it needs nose (or tail) weight to balance I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.
