I was thinking of up grading the servos back there with metal geared servos and go with 4-40 rods, but if the hinges fail....grrrrrrr

can you rebuild?

Thanks. Still a bit to big. The hunt continues.

Think I found the cause of the crash...... The plywood servo covers show signs of a good glue bond with a small amount of plywood attached to the servo blocks. I believe that the small blocks on SERVO MOUNTs were glued ok but the plywood delamited . In the future I will make a mechanical bond thru the wood blocks along with epoxy .Which would cause the flutter heard by a few.....

I'm glad to hear that as we can solve that situation easily with some epoxy! I'm still a week or so away from flying mine....

Other than Epoxy make sure you install a SCREW from the bottom of servo plate INTO the wood blocks , OR replace the ASIAN PLYWOOD with stuff made in the USA, along with screws . That's WHAT I will do on my next one.

Default Elevator plywood stab plates

The elevator mounts de-lamitated the plywood mounts ,they need a screw in each basswood block ,Too late for me ,I will secure the next one with epoxy and screws

Here are the servo's ,blocks and push rods , as you can see the blocks delaminated from the plywood, along with one servo control arm broke from part that screws to control service. GUYs go with a screw into the blocks, should elimate the problem ,

Experience is the best teacher but the tuition is always expensive. Sorry about the plane but I'm sure it will not happen to you again and everybody following this thread is now a little wiser.

So sorry to hear that. I just got a new fuselage as my original was damaged. The guys as JB hobbies have EXCELLENT customer service. So my build is about to start. I was noticijng all the glue joints and things in particular like how the dive breaks are connected to the clevises (glue), and have determined there needs to be some extensive hardware replacement , proper pinning and gluing, etc. I do that with all my ARF's though. Simple fact is that ARF's are built in an assembly line and are not always constructed with the care and diligence a typical modeler would put into a build, so though ARF's can be of decent quality and value; nothing compares to a kit built plane.
I had concerns about the servos recommended and initially thought that's where your failure happened, but the photos tell all.
Such a shame! Hopefully we can all learn from your misfortune.
I'll post images -Step by step when I start my build.

No Flaps JB HOBBIES are OUTSTANDING great customer service. When I received the SBD i did notice that it would require pinning of all the hinges(usually do) but forgot to secure the servo blocks . My next one I plan on using screws of secure the Blocks, I also might change to 4-40 rods . Other than that IT's a OUTSTANDING a/c fly's like a trainer very stable . My CG was 4.375 inches from the leading edge at the wing panels join. The hole is my CG point(use a balance beam set up. I also had to add 5to 6 oz.s of lead to cowl. I used the recommend servos by JB Hobbies . BTW used the MFG servo throws

Default Gas engine?

Hello, guys!

Here in Brazil we're facing glow fuel problems and I'm moving all my stuff to gas engine.

I got a RCGF 10cc to try to replace my 46/55 glow engines and I need a testing plataform for it.

So, do you guys think this engine would be enough to this plane?

Has anyone tried any 10cc engine with this plane yet?

Thanks!
