Ready to fly! Last day I started the engine and put my Spitfire together. Now I see, that the tail code is too large, but she looks much better now.
Iīm still working on the details as cannons and antenna mast.
Flight weight is approximately 7500 g (16.5 pounds)

Finally I passed the maiden last morning. She is pretty nice in the air, and flies as well. I didnīt have to trim any control. But the landing wasnīt my best. It was too hard and the pins are bent now. I will make the new from stronger metal and change the spring which are very soft.
Here are some smudged shots. Sorry for the quality, but Iīm not able to takeing pictures when I fly.

Prekin,
How are your Hobby King retracts holding up? I bought a pair for my 81" Spitfire and they do need some work. The retract units work but the struts don't fit and there are a few other issues as well. I have a lathe( and other machines ) so I should be able to correct the problems.

After the first landing I replace the HK aluminium pins for the stronger. Now I donīt have any problem with the HK retracts or struts. I see, some guys with same Spitfire, and they use the aluminium HK retracts.
Everytime, when I look at the two HK 12kgs retracts (the mine one and the another aluminium), where is the magic of the black plastic one, that is for the same weights as the massive aluminium one.
The plastic retract.

Hi, great job on the Spitfire. I don't know if I would consider it ugly too, as it comes.. Do you still have/fly it? I saw your maiden, also commented about the near stall at first landing atempt. Does it come with servoless retracts if I saw corectly? I'm thinking of an spitfire for years and now I have a 30cc RCGF almost new that I no longer use, and this Seagull model has the right price for me. Does it worth it? Are you satisfied with it? Can I use it as it comes, maybe with some engine month beefed up? I've watched every video on youtube with it and I must say I'm impressed of how well does it takes landings. I mean, I've always considered Spitfires nasty at landings, jumpy and wing droping due to small distance between main wheels but I see it's nothing like that. In the majority of the videos, I've watched it ibeing dropped or near stalled at landing and it does more than ok. One of the reasons I've stayed away from the ideea of a Spitfire is landings, I was afraid of it. But now, after some years with a Seagull 1,72m Zlin, I've finaly learned how to land it properly, on the mains, as I described to your maiden video. So I feel confident about getting one and I see Lindinger in Austria has them on stock...

I sold that Spitfire last year, because I had make more space in workshop. The first landing was without flaps. I would say, that this kit is great as a first warbird. That Spitfire is like a trainer in warbirds shapes. It comes very ugly and less than semi scale, but as you can see, it is easy to make a semi scale Spitfire from that kit.
I got one without any retracts, but I suppose there are some kits with mechanical retracts. My DLE 30 was enough for that Spit, I guess it would be same with your RCGF
