Dionsusbacchus Thanks for taking the time to show how your gear door install worked. I didn't think the supplied parts had any chance of working!! I hope you new plane arrived and is in good shape! Those are a couple of nice looking planes you have there!!
I have removed/covered up the markings on the Mustang and got some rivets on the horizontals, the next step there is to install the engine, tank and all the other internals, then Rivets and such. I have decided to follow you lead with and spruce up the cockpit!
My Spit is now glassed and its time to start the sanding priming, sanding priming..... paint sequence.
Cheers

Well, still no canopy from Gator RC. Ordered a Ziroli P-51 canopy and its already arrived. Sure hope it fits the Top Models RC P-51. Over a month now of sitting and waiting on the last piece of the puzzle, but no joy.
Here's hoping!
Happy New Year Everyone!

Did you guys use the stock hardware? The pushrods look like garbage to me, too small the threads are not cut deep enough. I've had Clevis's pull off because of this issue.
Also, mine didn't come with the metal brackets for mounting servos, instead just the standard wood blocks. I wonder why.

You need the aluminum servo brackets, unless they changed the internal wing structure, I'm guessing they forgot to include them in your kit.
This is one of my aileron servos, does your wing have the ply tabs in the servo bays? If so you need the brackets, you could make them, I have many in my parts bin left over from other projects.

I used much of the stock hardware, although I could see the flap linkage pulling loose if the flaps were dropped at higher speed. That is another reason I chose to use the internal linkage, no mods are needed and it's a stronger set up, pushing is better than pulling.

This is a list I made for a fellow club member also assembling this plane:
Tower Hobbies:
1 Robart 635RS 90 Degree Heavy Duty Mains - $186.99
1 Robart Left Hand Robostrut 5" - 5 1/4" Wheel - $59.99
1 Robart Right Hand Robostrut 5" - 5 1/4" Wheel - $59.99
1 Robart Left Hand Offset Pneumatic Tail Wheel - $149.99

Mine is progressing fairly well. All surfaces are hooked up and working. I stole the idea from this thread for using the cable to close the tail wheel doors. Easy as 1,2,3. Only difference is I removed the ball links and used the existing screws to hold the doors open.
I'm not a fan of the wheels, they're too small I would think at least 5.5" wheels are needed. Guess I'll be laying out more cash for Robarts. I also don't like how high the main gear outer doors sit above the wheels, not very scale at all.

Got the gear going, wasn't too bad. Since I didn't get the metal "L" brackets for servo mounting, I had to just screw the servos into the blocks then epoxy them in. Not looking forward to ever having to replace them. I also had to use two different servos, a hitec and a power HD since they have opposite rotations. I really didn't want to have to add a servo reverser into the mix.

Gunfighter tail vertical fin issue
I received my Gunfighter from Tower Hobbies recently. This week I unpacked the fuse. The plane was packaged well and there was no obvious shipping damage. As it turns out the vertical fin was split open at the fuse seams and the rudder vertical bulkhead. This was factory build and packaging issue. Also the front windshield was broken in two places. I think the factory forced the bubble wrap on too tight when packaging. Also the vertical fin used a ceramic paste that broke out and was sparingly used. Tower customer service is great. They offered to replace the kit with a new one. Unfortunately they are backordered. It may be some four weeks before I could start the build. I decided to do my own repair of the damage. I used Hysol 9462 with the long mix nozzle to glue the split line seam and the vertical fin. The windshield will need new clear plastic windows. The cracked frame was easy to glue back together. I plan on using a DLE-61 engine and Robart air retracts. Overall the scale detail looks good for only my second gasser warbird. Does anyone know what is the best paint to use to touch up the vertical fin seam repairs?

I ordered mine from Tower Hobbies back in November and it was put on back order with a January delivery time frame, than moved to late January and now I realize that other people are getting their orders fulfilled, and instead, of the quality getting better it is getting crappier and crappier all the time. Last time I checked my order status - it was moved to March and I am starting to have a growing feeling that cancelling it altogether would be the best thing to do. Save a lot of money, aggravation, and, frustration!
How do other people on this thread feel about the worth of this kit?

The quality is light years ahead ahead of most ARF's on the market today. I own just about every TF GS warbird and had the H9 Corsair (junk). This plane is in a whole different class from everything else on the market except maybe Comparf.

i hope you haven't taken my posts as saying the plane is crappy, it's not by a long run. I think the split in my vertical was the result of shipping.

Just my 2c.
Don't get me wrong, I placed an order because I thought that this could be a great deal, especially after I had a $168 coupon but they keep pushing delivery further and further South. I just checked the latest update on Tower Hobbies site and now it is pushed to late March. I am starting to get a feeling that they are deliberately trying to encourage people on back order to cancel.
Again, just my 2c.
