1/3 scale Fokker D7 highly modified balsa USA
hello gang! This is my first time posting on this sight so bare with me. this is the second plane or any model for matter I have ever built. My first being a 28% Curtiss Jenny with machine guns . It was a challenge but rewarding . For now I'LL just show a few pics until I know how to walk this sight correctly, If this goes OK I will send more detail about this build. Aside from the fact I have experience flying full scale aircraft in my past though have not in a long long time.. Working with drafts, drawings etc.., I find very little difference in how they are constructed. That being said let me try putting some picks in for now. Let me know what you think? You have been my mentors!

Let me say, you have built a beautiful model! The scale detail work looks to be second to none. You did not say the size or make of your engine. The big question, have you flown a RC airplane? Many of us have stick time in full scale planes, but flying RC models is a world of difference. With that said, you have done a fantastic job. We would like to know more about you and your airplane.

1/3 scale fokker DII build
Hey Rich, michael again Just glad my attempt to publish ok for now About me I'LL keep that short to still the bore, I have a masters Mechanical engineering, Never really applied it though. Age 56, Had a large antique and jewelry buisiness for 15 years Richmond V.A. Retired out Then became School director for a vocational school chain for a while Then lost my family (car accident) Then Traveled Now disabled wheel chaired most the time {for now} Lived on a sail boat for years, now I'm poor but humble. My passion for flying, sailing some reason a natural interest to do with wind? History ,and detailed research have always been a major hobby for me as well as my music. musician. I mostly keep to myself these days. Now for the fun stuff ! The fokker the modifications planned researched over and over again I chose balsa usa for many good reasons! no complaints and great people in my book. and from my 1st project tired of hand cutting and hand drilling everything myself [ don't even have any power tools can't afford!] It was neat I found it fascinating Seems like every time I went shopping I was even looking at packaging to see If there was something I could use for the build. I have a crazy stock bin! As for the Fokker It has all Hitec servos, mirricle power switch, aux cooling micro fans not yet installed My plans for engine would be for a G62 w/ mick reeves torcmaster [can't afford] right now. Still some small things left to do, Such as get G.T. Fokker nuts etc.., I have some of the build details on another sight Don't know If I'm allowed to say which one though, With the modificatins I made to the build it self, I managed to keep balsausa known flight characteristics. As for rc flying I know you to be right! I am not qualified to fly this plane! and would love for someone else to. I just can't get around too much these days for now. Mean time I find always still much to learn just in buiding alone. I also have another current project going, Another crazy modified for scale BALSAUSA PUP. I was able to by a partial kit in box, Mostly though I use original factory plans in my build I am able to get some of these. I still need much guidance and always have many questions and love learned advise! Heres a couple of pics of it for know P.S. I am very pleased to meet #1 of the brotherhood! wished I could be a number Loved reading that sight many times. You have quite a hanger! WOW!

Thanks Michael for responding quickly. I am very sorry about your family. You have had an interesting life. As for the Fokker, I think you can list the other site where you have the construction details. We would be interested in seeing how you accomplished this wonderful build. About the engine, am I to understand you have a Zenoah 62 mounted in the airplane? Also, it would be great to see a construction thread on this site for the Pup. Maybe you could start one, pictures are the best way to get your point across. Then others could see if the airframe is strong enough the withstand the gasoline engine vibration and flight.
Michael, log on to the Balsa USA Brotherhood thread, request a number to become a Brother and I will assign you a number. I am sure to Brothers would enjoy meeting you and seeing your beautiful work.

That is the most stunning BUSA D7 I've ever seen. I keep thinking no way with all that detail - must be a Glenn Torrance or other. Just fabulous. I'd be terrified to fly such a beauty. I can't believe that is your second build - just stunning. The D7 is such a majestic looking plane - you did it justice. Best regards,
Bob

Makes me want another D7!
Wow man! Simply wow!
I’ve been a pilot for several club members and one in particular would build like this and was a huge WWI fighter enthusiast. He would build whatever and I would fly them and get them sorted out for him. My specialty is flying war birds and scale planes so I wasn’t too hesitant to fly his masterpieces but I can tell you it can be intimidating for some. It’s just part of the hobby, if you’re lucky the models last a long time, if they don’t then hopefully you get to learn something from the loss. Lucky for me I could count on his building ability and I just had to look it over once and go fly. You should learn to fly your creations while you can but I really think you should team up with a really good scale pilot and get into a Scale Masters contest or similar near you. Everyone needs to see your beautiful work on the ground and in the air.
Bravo sir, I wish I lived closer to get to see your planes and help you fly them!
