Sept 9, WW I flying at Huffman Prairie flying field.
Miles: 40.
This was at a national park where the Wright brothers REALLY did their flying, putting in impressive times and maneuvers.
A few of us were lucky enough to fly our planes at this 'once in a lifetime' place.
The park service put on a 'carnival' in which multiple attractions were available to the public.
There were about a dozen of us that took advantage of this opportunity.
Pretty cool to fly at the same field as the Wright brothers flew.
The field was pretty rough but, fortunately, WW I planes don't need a lot of runway.
The park service takes these events seriously as two fully armed men in 4 wheelers were constantly cruising up and down the area.

Sept 16-17, Flying Pilgrims fall phase out in Canton, Michigan.
miles: 240
800' paved and matching grass runway.
The first time I attended two events in one weekend (totaling 700 miles travel). Knowing weather was perfect at both locations at 82 degrees, my son living 4 miles from this flying field and knowing members of both clubs, it seemed like a 'good thing' to do. I stayed at each event for one day.
This was my first time at this field. There were several members that I've met at other flyins that belonged to this club.
