Default RC Guys Ryan STA

I have a RC Guys Ryan STA. I was wondering if anyone out there was having troubles installing the pull pull system for the rudder. When the wires run out near the elevator servos they rub on the balsa wood. Has anyone encountered this? If so what was your work around?

I have one , it flies GREAT !!!! I just used a piece of music wire and punched it through the balsa so the wire can pass through. Then use a small piece of nyrod for a sleeve glued in wood.sorry added a wrong pic.

Wow, such a lengthy thread on this one. How do you like the model Tim? I like that one wheel action there, haha. Hope you were able to get her in safe.

She landed just fine, it has flaps so you can really slow it down. It is a Fun airplane to fly, I love mine.

Hello, I'm not sure if anyone monitors this thread but I figured I'd give it a try. I am building the RC guys Ryan and I cant seem to figure out how to get the wheel pants over the landing gear. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

First off, throw that steel Away. Only use them for a template. That wire will snap in half with not much effort .The way I solved the problem was to order Robart struts. and use some good 1/4" spring steel.

Hey Tim,
I already snapped one while trying to straighten it out. I have a set of robart struts, is it easier to install the wheel pants?

Which Robart strut set did you use?
Thanks,

TimD,
Thanks, the 7/16" struts are in the right weight range, but are 660 series. I'll figure it out when I get my kit.

Not a thread I expected to see in the Warbirds forum, but hey whatever!

I assembled one of these last year. The landing gear & pants was the absolute worst assembly I've done in my short (6 years) flying "career". Also learned the hard way that the wire gear has too much flex and can allow the wheels to hit the pants. While I have not installed them yet, I highly recommend the Robart struts. They should solve the problem nicely!

The plane itself is a dream to fly, and amazingly easy to land. I went electric: RimFire 65cc and 12S. Think I need to "prop up" or something though, as she's not aerobatic at all.
