hang on to your money BobH.....I called Adrian at CH Ignitions and he is in the process of making one for this engine. It would be a good idea to call him if you are interested to give him incentive that there are folks out there in need of an ignition for this engine. I will need two since I have two engines and I know two others that will also need it. It’s almost like a rescue job for me

Looks great! I have about 2.5 running hours on mine. Some at full throttle and slightly below. I'm pretty sure mines broken in as well.
Oh did you get Stainless Steel push rods from UMS? and if so.. did you have to buy them or did they replace the older style?

im pretty sure the SS pushrods will have to be a purchase but i plan on buying two sets. My first 160 has about 20 gallons of fuel ran through it and has never missed a lick....hope this one works as well as the first👍

The maiden occurred last weekend and went very well. The video didn’t happen due to technical difficulties (operator). The Evo160 lifted the Model at 1/2 throttle and ran very smooth. I needed no trim whatsoever which was a wonderful surprise!!
the gear came up but the doors interfered so I put them back down during the flight. After 10 min of flight I dropped the flaps 1/2 on base then full on final....no pitch changes occurred and I left about three clicks of throttle and she settled in on a smooth glide path with a small amount of power. Winds were 7-10 on the runway heading. The La-7 came right down to the asphalt and flared without a single ballon and a gentle touchdown. This model is as easy to fly as a P-47 and it’s a definite keeper.
The bad news is that the Evo160 was making a clicking noise as she taxied back so there wasn’t any other flight made. I’m bery disappointed with the engine and it’s on its way back to Horizon
the temps for the flight day was low 70’s and the engine ran well but I decided to open up three more spots on the cowl to let more heat out. If Horizon offers my money back on the engine I’ll take it and order a moki 180....to be continued 👍👍

Good luck with a refund. My best guess is it's not going to happen
On the other hand what do you think the clicking noise is from?
That would be good to know..
Congrats on a successful maiden!

Thanks BobH...there’s a problem in the cam block...they’ll have to replace the cam block to fix it so I’m just waiting to see what they do. It’s still on warranty so it’s a free one this time. This is an awesome flying model so it’s gonna have a good engine on front one way or another👍

Hello Jimmy,

Congratulation for your maiden. You see that the La-7 is a perfect warbird! And yes, a moki 180 is a good idee, and will be a great performer...

Thanks warbird....I received confirmation yesterday so Horizon has the engine. If they repair it I will be happy. The Evo160 is a real powerhouse, it will turn the same prop 900 rpm more than the moki 150 and runs about 50 degrees cooler, so I really do hope that Horizon can repari it. I have the same engine on my Stearman with 100 flights and Ive had nothing but good service from it. Oh well I guess we will see

BTY warbird , thank you for sharing the CG info and flying surface movement ranges, they were perfect and nothing needed to be changed👍😃
