Threading custom lenght servo pushrods
Hi, it's -30 this morning in Winterpeg, to cold for rc flying, so why not share my adaptation of the "Rodchuck" system from the 90's for making custom length and threading servo pushrods before this old laptop dies and the info gets lost. The rod chuck kit is not avaliable.
I've been doing this method for the past 10 years on my warbirds as I'm not the greatest solderer and I prefer a threaded connection on both ends rather that a solder joint.
The whole text description is in the pdf or on my blog at the links below. Comments welcome.
Basically I'm using 3/32" and 1/8" diameter mild steel welding rod and 2-56, 3-56, 4-40, and 5-40 dies. I got the dies and handles off Ebay or and the local hardware store or hobby shop or online.

Ken,
Tell me about it! I'll be 72 in March. So far, everything works but one doesn't know how long that will last.
As long as I can take off and land safely, I'm happy!
During the winter I pump iron, do sit ups and run up the basement steps 40 times to try to stay in shape.
They say exercise is, also, good for the mind: in that case I better double that exercise routine!
The best part of attending flyin's and meetings is the socializing.
Can't beat camaraderie.
