I think that's something we all need to be well aware of. Mine almost went ballistic when I bought a 27cc gas engine and exhaust system for a boat I'm building. I think it had something to do with the roughly $1,000 price tag for everything and, believe it or not, THAT WAS ON SALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very true, I'm a lucky guy with a beautiful Wife that indulges my hobby. Doesn't get much better!!!

Back to the Hellcat. Received the G62 and laid it our with the cowl and looks like its going to be a good fit without hacking the cowl up too bad. The instructions call for a 6 3/4" distance from the FW to the engine thrust washer. Looks like the G62 with the spring starter cup and the prop shaft extension will come out to 7". Not a perfect fit, but good enough. With the G62 and the 1/4" added projection, may be able to remove one of the pre-attached weight bars. Wont know until I put it on the balancer.

It has the stock magneto. It also has a spring starter. Same setup I have on my FW190. Works like a champ.

Those spring starters never thrilled me. That setup is pretty bullet proof but I always worried about getting my hand out of the way.

Fool proof way is to keep your hand at the tip of the prop, wind the prop clockwise (but not too much) and release the prop to the outside of the arc. Can’t get your hand smacked using this method.

I've been contemplating ordering this bird as a back up for my Byron F6F . Everything should move right on over , retracts and all . I will try to wait for some flight reviews and videos before I decide , if I can exihibit some self control . Anyone that has both the Byron and the TF please give us some comparison input when you get some flights in .

Don’t have the Byron but can’t wait to get this F6F into the air.

Haven't been able to do any work on the airframe this last week but was able to get the G62 mounted on a test stand. I bought it used in the for sale section. Motor ran great. It had a Bennett muffler (exhaust diverter) on it, man that is one noisy muffler. May order a wrap around Pitts, or stay with the stock muffler.

I think Bisson and Slimline makes mufflers for the G-62.

Looking good Bill. I have decided to shelve mine for now. Swap meet season is coming around so just going to collect what I need over the next few months. Maybe next winters project. I am building the Hanger 9 20 CC Hellcat now and I have a few kits to keep me busy over the winter. Looking forward to some of your reviews once your Cat is done!

The Bisson is a little quieter than the Slimline . I think Jtec also made a muffler that had a larger chamber that might be quieter than the Slimline as well

Bill, I hope everything is fine in Fort Wayne...I sure do miss living there. On another note, what engine are you putting in the Hehhcat (20cc)?

I have a Power 60 in mine, the other one is an EVO 20, they both fly well, the electric is faster, the Evo sounds better, but it was brand new and making better power every time he has it out.

I have MANY found memories when I lived in the Fort...Miss working at Phil's (and Phil RIP), flying at the glider site, Flying Circuits and the BIG small town atmosphere....as for what's in the water here....what water? We get about 8" of rain a YEAR, so we can fly anyday we want.

I too am putting a DLE 20 in mine also....just ordered the F4U struts for it .... like to put the tank lower in the fuse but I guess that space will have to be used for the ignition module and batteries.

Sorry for hiJacking this thread...

Mine is the electric, the 20cc is my buddy, I'll see if he has any. He's also building the big one waiting on landing gear.
