Default Road trips: 2018

Starting another new year.
Hope all got what they wanted for Christmas: planes or other wise!

Had the first plane show of the year.
Just went to socialize but found a self healing cutting board and a variable chuck for the dremel.

Envious - we've not had a swap meet out my way in years - I wonder where that estate and going out of the hobby stuff went.
Always a pleasure to read your posts! cheers - ken

Toledo show.
I was there on Friday.
Went there mainly to socialize.
Will post the eighty some pictures as I process them.

Well, I see they've changed how to upload pictures since my last post.
Post the toledo pictures and pictures from an earlier post flea market appears.
Love this site: gets better every day!
Not even going to mention the 'for sale' section!

Any input on solution would be appreciated.
Trying to upload from my hard drive on my pc.

Sam, click the go advanced button. Scroll down and you will see " manage attachments:, click that. That will open up a download screen. Click on Browse. that will open your computer files. Find the files/pictures you want to upload and click on them. It will save the pictures to the pile. When you uploaded what you want. Scroll back up to the dialog screen. At the top there is a paperclip with an arrow beside this. Click the arrow and click insert all.

testing
Well, selecting the paper clip allowed me to select the picture again and, after saving, the results are the same.
When I click on the paper clip.arrow, it takes me back to uploading pictures with no comments about 'insert all'.
Also, very limited time on editing a post. I can't edit my previous post. Not sure for the reasoning for not allowing a person to edit their own posts! Must be another 'improvement'!

RCU has become useless. Maybe you should relocate to the Flying Giants forum.

Lord, I just tried to upload several pics. What a piece of crap this forum has become. It did just what you said. It's worthless..

One nice result is it's going to save me a lot of time this summer: I spend a lot of time converting thousands of pictures at flyins to download, which I won't have to do anymore.

Which is a shame. I haven't been able to attend events like I used to. Your pictures have allowed me to enjoy many of those events, as , I am sure it has for many people. I will miss your travels and posts.

Loading pictures is much easier than before, so it's definitely old brain syndrome!

1. Click "Go Advanced" at the bottom of the "Quick Reply" field.

2. Under the Reply to Thread field click on "Manage Attachments"

3. A window will open with a big arrow on it, do what it says under that.

4. You can open your pictures folder and drag and drop pictures you want, or you can Browse Your Device or My albums.

So come on old dogs, roll over old boy!

Dion,
That's the procedure that I've been using.

I'll try again to see if they've fixed the problem.
After selecting the picture, I 'upload' in the right hand corner.
What does 'drag' your picture mean as there is no explanation of its function and is that necessary?

Well, the above picture doesn't open.
try again as I tried selecting those options at the bottom of the picture.
nada.
This time I did just the upload and, after saving, clicking on either picture does not show up. Also, what's with no picture showing on the post as it used to do?
This is the procedure I used to use to post pictures (go to advance, etc) and it used to work and now it does not.

Rich,
I click on your picture and no response.
Not sure what's happening.
I also input on another railroad related thread that is set up like this one and it works fine and is more user friendly.
I like their option of, after posting pictures, one can easily insert comments between each picture.
I have not seen that capability on this site, besides 'everything else'!
Interesting, the 2-10 date post (see above) worked fine and, since then, nothing for me is working.
I'm not putting a lot of time into this: I've got more productive things to do.

Had to try it myself Sam; I didn't have any problems.
I hope you can get it to work because like so many others on here I really enjoy the pictures you post of the events you attend.

testing via firefox versus present google chrome
Well, it works via firefox.
About a month ago, I switched to chrome because firefox was crashing a couple times a day on me and then it would restart. My daughter said to use chrome as 'everyone' uses that.
Obviously, some parameters need to change for using google chrome.
Interesting, pictures work just fine on the railroad web site via google chrome.
Also, all the pictures that I posted a week ago are, now, correct and not pointing to pictures posted on 2-10. weird.
Still annoying in that, on the railroad website, the pictures will appear where I have the cursor whereas, with this site, it just posts the pictures at the top of the post. Obviously, also why I can't add comments before each individual picture.

Hey monitor: if you want a user friendly website, go to this website and get their software:

Sam, I see two pictures of the AMA trailer in your posts #5, and #12, and the same picture again in post #16. If that is what you were attempting to post pictures of then it's working on my end.

June 7 - 9, CARDS warbird flyin at Lansing, Michigan.
Miles: 270.
This is part of the warbirds alliance organization with 7 flyins, this year.
Very lucky to live in this part of the country where there are so many great warbird flyins.
All due to the great amount of work put on by Dennis and Linda Crooks and the 7 clubs hosting these events.
Attendance is from 75 to 150 pilots bringing giant scale warbirds and classics (civilian planes 50 years or older).

Let's see if any pictures post!

I see the picture posting doesn't work via google chrome.

June 16: fathers day general flyin at Wilmington, Ohio.
miles: 40
A nice sunny day but hot (90) at a club down I-71 a few miles.
Since a general flyin, only about 8 scale planes were there. Got 7 flights in.

June 21-23: Windy city warbirds and classics at Fox Valley RC club in St Charles, Illinois.
Miles: 375
This is the 2nd event of the 7 warbird and classics alliance event of the season.
Very nice 800' paved and grass runway with grass run off at each end.
Had a great time seeing old friends again and new places to eat: new favorite place to eat: Portillo's restaurant: great steak sandwiches.
Weird how I can only use firefox and not google chrome to access this web site when I can use chrome accessing another site that appears to be the same software used on both sites: plus I can insert sentences between pictures as on the other site.

Fox Valley (cont)
Will post more, later,
Not sure why the software has to ask me the same questions twice when downloading pictures from my PC.
Also, no matter where I put the curser to insert pictures, they always are first in the post.
