MACCHI 205 "Veltro,,
No one can seem to capture this aircrafts lines at all!! All models I have seen are horrendous!! None are even close!! What’s up?!! All the plans I have seen are very wrong. Kits are nonexistent, and the ones I have seen like the VQ, IMP, and Tigermodels are all ridiculously modeled.

Might be that there is little or no good information on them out there. I have turned down a couple of design job because I could not really say I would have a true scale model!

Nice project!!!! Stay warm by the fire and get to work!! LOL The Fire fly is 108" span and 80" in length! Not well know like the Macchi, but we, me and my European distributor, hope it will be a hit there in Europe!

You are killin' me Charles! I just pulled together a whole bunch of drawings and and photos of the C-3603 thinking it may be my next design project! I look forward to seeing what you come up with on this one, excellent subject matter.

Got the RimFire 65cc today!!! What a great looking motor!!!
Will be swinging a 23x10 3blade prop that will make it scale size!!! This RimFire 65cc will sit way up front with the scale spinner and prop, it should get good cooling. I will have all the scale vents in it too, which where many on this one. 12S setup on a Castle Creations 160 high volt ESC with fan.
I could never do this with a gasser up front have the power and reliability; swing the 23x10 3bl and still maintain the look of this airplane!!

I will be watching with interest Lazun. I am currently building a 1/5 scale Yellow Spitfire for a customer which will also be powered with the RimFire 65cc. I'm an electric newbie so I'm getting an education! Fortunately the customer, who is also a good friend, flies nothing but electric and speaks the language very fluently. Your Veltro looks fantastic and I will be anticipating more updates to this thread for sure, particularly so when you reach test flight time!

Scale spinner had to be made on lathe and mill. Designed and made the backplate so it would be in the scale position with scale size 3 blade prop. Just finished balancing it!!! Turns perfectly true!! This one was cake compared to the counter-rotating spinner I did last year!!

It's true. But not now. I am working on finishing up details. Most of the fabrication stuff is done. Finished up the nose area and firewall. Will have scale cooling like the real one which took a lot of work. But I will have a fully enclosed fuse. Still working out the tailwheel stuff. Once that is done I will be mostly done with figuring and can concentrate on finishing it all up.

I can't wait to see your Veltro finished up lazun. Magnificent work! Besides the big Macchi I'm working on my other customer build at the moment is a Yellow Spitfire which will be electric. I'm a total "noob" when it comes to electric power so I'm getting a thorough education! I just received the sound system which will be incorporated into the Spit to emulate the Griffon noises. Thus far I have not been overly impressed with sound systems but this one is supposed to be the best so hopes are high. Luckily the Spit has those big underwing radiators which easily swallow up the necessary speakers. Happy New Year my friend and, with any luck, 2014 will see both of our Macchi projects come to successful conclusions!

I like to use aluminum printing press sheets. The K&S stuff is no good though for this use. This stuff works easy and is lighter than plastics and fiberglass!!! Not sure why we do not see it used more in the hobby. It also provides the right effect.

Nice work as usual lazun. Just FYI, I came across a stock of old "Flying Models" magazines at one of our local hobby shops and picked up the issue with your article on your father's Macchi. I had seen it before many years ago but was once again blown away by the quality of work and level of detail on the model. "Magnificent" hardly seems adequate to describe it.

Mr. Newman's MC.200 is also magnificent w1nd6urfa but that is not the airplane I am referring to. Lazun's father built a control line scale MC.205 many years ago that was featured in Flying Models magazine, among others, and certainly must rank as one of the most detailed flying models I have ever seen. Below is a picture of the model that lazun posted in another thread. Hopefully he will come along and provide a few more as the cockpit and wheel well detail must be seen to be believed.
