You are right. I have been looking for more info too. The only thing I saw was someone making the remark that since there were no flaps, it was a no sell. Flaps would be nice but maybe not necessary or H9 thought it would add too much to cost.

I am am thinking of one of these too

Default H9 Hellcat 15 cc

I picked up one last summer. My build was mostly stock with an OS 120AX for power and the E-Flite retracts. It went together fairly well. This plane took about 45 hours of build time vs my 60 -70 hours for other similar recent warbirds. Flies well, lands easily like H9's earlier Hellcat. Seems like I see more folks putting 20cc gas engines in this plane than 15 ccs.

Brian

H9 Hellcat 15cc. 17 flights on it so far.

I reviewed one for Model Airplane News. Nice little plane, I'd prefer flaps but it doesn't need them, will flat out scram with a power 60

Flying one with DLE20 up front. Plenty of power, flies well, builds quickly-recommend!

Say, Andrew, not to change the subject, but what is going on at MAN? The magazine gets thinner and thinner every month. There is almost nothing in it

Nice review on the Hellcat and your article is probably where I read it did not need flaps

I'm just a contributor, I don't have any insight into the day to day office business.

I do know that I have projects for MAN that are several issues out that I am working on so they aren't in imminent danger of folding up.

I was in the same 'position' when RCM folded - no notice - and no paycheck!

My Dad did numerous construction articles for Flying Models. He never got paid for the last few either according to him and they just folded. Another long time one not in our hobby was Popular Photography which went a year or two ago

I have no knowledge they are but just observing it is getting thinner and thinner and most people at the field say they are not going to renew the next time around since it is so sparse Which means circulation goes even lower

... and lower circulation means page count gets cut further, which in turn reduces readership even further, continuing the downward cycle.

My Hellcat arrived last week. Need to order retracts etc. Looking forward to getting it airborne once flying season gets here!

Let us know how you like it and what motor are you going to use? The one reviewed in MAN used electric

Yes, I had the power 60 in the review plane. There's also one here with a 20cc Evolution that's pretty peppy and sounds better.

I’ll be going electric with the E-Flite Power 60B. I have that setup in my P-47 (the precious 20cc one) and love it!

Won’t rule out a conversion to gas at a later date, but thus far I’ve only flown electric. Planning to convert a sport plane I’m comfortable with to gas to get my feet wet...

It is! And that big white tail should help with orientation too.

I didn't lose it but the walk to the top of the hill flashed through my mind as I figured out which way it was headed and got it back closer.

that tail would match up good with the one on my VQ P-40. but I thing the Hellcat would need to be a bit larger to make the 2 the same scale, meaning the Hellcat as is only has a 1 inch longer wing span

There is a review on this in the Model Aviation I just got out of the mail box. Looks like the reviewer loved it.

Flaps would be neat but the reviewers in MAN and MA say they are not needed. Probably kept the cost lower
