35 pilots at the Dawn patrol.

One lucky pilot got free ride in PT-19. Only pilots eligible, no tickets bought, each pilot has one ticket.

Six of the seven panthers got air born.

GCRCC Circus (cont)

A lot of engine oil (each engine has 47 gallons) leaks out so they wipe it down after each flight. I was standing around watching so they gave me a rag to wipe down the high spots.

Being an airport, all set up has to be done within a limited time period.

Props for the air show.

Show runs from 11:30 am to 4:30 PM.

GCRCC air show ((cont)

A good crowd showed up for the air show.

Pyrotechnics used.

This year we celebrated Armstrong's first step on a foreign terrestrial object.

Five WW II warbirds at Dayton Wright brothers air field.
Miamisburg, Ohio
Miles: 20

Five great looking warbirds were at the local airport for three days.
They fly around the country for 10.5 months and give air rides.
Amazing that they let you crawl around inside the B-24 and B-25.
15 bucks admission: great buy.

Aug. 15-17, Warbirds and classics over the midwest at Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
Miles: 525
This is the 5th of the warbird alliance flyins. I didn't make it to the 4th at Owatonna, Minn. as it's 725 miles and getting too far for my old bones.
1300' all grass runway.
There were 118 registered pilots.

FDL (cont)

Ali from Horizon. One of the most proficient flyers that I've ever seen. Does slow rolls about 10' over the runway with his 10' F-86.
Trade mark landings: either a spiral landing or a loop landing.
Other pilots that I know in this category is Dino and Chris Tucker. These pilots do things we would never try.

Pilot prizes. One ticket for each flight.
