Default Which warbird ARF are you flying with your Brison 2.4

After getting an idea of where I am heading in this hobby, I feel I will be able to tolerate (financially) planes in the 70"-80" wingspan size. Also, I like warbirds and the advantages and suitable application of gassers in warbirds.

My research suggests a 1.60 gasser is probably the smallest possible engine to provide adequate power to aircraft in this size category. At $400 for a 1.60 sized gasser, it seems more savvy to go for the 2.4 sized engines at the same price. Moreover, best balance in short-nosed tail-heavy warbirds might be better attained in a 2.4 sized gasser, provided the airframe can handle the weight, vibration, torque of the larger engine. This leads me to the Brison 2.4.

The Brison 2.4 seems to offer the best fit (economy, pricing, complexity (technology), reliability, practicality, ease of use, customer service, etc.) for versatility in 70"-80" warbirds.

Would anyone care to comment on any asserations I have made? Am I wrong anywhere in my thinking where gassers and warbirds are concerned? What are you flying with your Brison 2.4?

Haywood, I'm not flying the Brison 2.4, but two of my warbirds would fly very well on one. One is a Jack Devine Zero which uses a Quadra 400xl (same 40cc's). 83" wing at 17 lbs.

The second is a Midwest AT6 at 83" wingspan with a US41. Wardirds I have seen with comp. engines include the Yellow Spit and P47, Dave Platt's Zero, etc. Basically anything you like in the 20lb range or anything they say flys with a 1.80 four stroke. I have also seen the World Models ARF Zero on one of these engines fly very well.

Been flying one in a Yellow Aircraft P-47 for the last 6 years.
Has more than enough power for large level flight loops, Cuban eights, victory rolls etc.
Also notice that it stays up with most of the 3.2 stuff that shows up at the scale and warbird meets.
Always thought that the Brison was a good value for the money.

canman,
Beautiful planes! I am especially partial to the TEXAN! I may get the Kyosho AT6 for my Saito 56. Eventually hope to end up in gassers in the 75"-85" wingspan range...

I'm flying a 80" World Models Zero arf with a BME 2.7 which is the same weight and power as a Brison 2.4. It is a great flyer and lands like a trainer. Be prepared to replace the stock retracts with good ones though. See my gallery for pictures! Paul

Wow, nice Zero too. I love warbirds, but it's so hard to pick a favorite!

I just bought a Brison 2.4... still looking for a nice Warbird to put it in. Any ideas? I will need an ARF, as I don't have the time/patience/skill/experience to build a kit. I like Spitfires too, but no good 80" ARF available on it yet.

Any other ideas? Warbird, of course! Anyon e got a Brian Taylor RTF?

I think the Top Flite Mustang ARF would be a good combination with the 2.4. I was going to use an FPE 2.4 in mine, but decided on a Brison 3.2 instead. After several flights with the 3.2 at 1/2 throttle or so, I think the 2.4 would have been fine. I needed to add 6-8 of weight to the tail to balance, so the 2.4 may be perfect.
Several guys have put ZDZ 40's in them, and also a few Moki 2.1's as well. Even a few with the US-41 & G-38.

Been eyeing that Top Flite P-51 ARF. Looks nice! Waiting for the next ARF(ering) from Top Flite. Hopefully a SPITFIRE!

There are a few rumors floating around on RCU, that it will be a P-47. I am curious too.
