If you are looking for the red-outlined national markings (1943 style), then try to find one of the old Top Flite 'red box' Corsair sets. The size is correct for Hanger 9 Corsairs, they look great, and that is what I have on my electric powered H-9 Corsair.

OR, as Rocketman suggested, have some made up by a custom grafix maker.

Can't awit to see those pics.

Would you post some more pics of your Highly Modified H9 Corsair for us to enjoy? any more input in terms of how you modified the wing for flaps etc would be appreciated..Truly spectacular model..Like the Sliding Canopy..

Thanks, nemesis. This plane was stolen from my garage a year ago and I just got tis plane back thanks to Corsairjock who noticed it was posted in an online auction. The police picked it up along with alot of my other RC gear. It has alot of hangar rash and needs some repair work to get it up to par now.

The servos are mounted under the cockpit and connect to the elevator and rudder inside the fuse. To make the flaps I carefully cut 2 1/2" of the rear wing off and cut this into 3 pieces to make the flaps. I removed another 1/4" from the wing and glued balsa anchors for the hinges flush to the cut and then glued 1/4" end cap to the rear of the wing and sanded to shape. I cut 1/2" of the rib and sheeting out of the top of the flap pieces and glued in 1/2" balsa (curved shaped for the center flap) to the bottom flap sheeting and rib. I sanded 1/8" off each side of these flaps and glued identically shaped (to the flap profile I wanted) 1/8"ply end caps with holes drilled for the wire rods to connect the flaps on the ends of the flaps. Then rounded the top leading edge of the flaps even with the shaped ply end caps and trial fit them to the wing. Lots of sanding and trial fits with hinges and connecting rods but it works just like the TF flap design. One servo in center wing operates bell-cranks angled to the bottom of the wing in front of inner flaps. I also routed a 1/32 recess in the top of the rear wing end cap so I could glue a 1/32 ply trailing edge to cover the flap hinge line. This cap hung over the flaps about 3/16.

Not sure if you get all that its hard to explain without pics. Canopy was made with a mold and the sliding mechanism is just like dionysusbacchus' royal corsair mods. Check it out for more great corsair ideas! Ed

Hi Jim,

I have a H9 Corsair which I have flown a few times, and it flies beautifully I must say. Unfrotnuately my last flight was a mini-disaster. On approach I lost elevsator andshe did a nose dive (albeit at slow speed), but it was enough to separate the firewall and wing. I am in the process of putting herback together and try as I might, getting replacement H9 bits was near impossible. I then ordered some TopFlite stuff from Tower Hobbies to replace the cowl and dummy motor which took most of the impact.

I have just finished reading your threads on this and the TF Corsair (all 17 pages!!) and I wanted to express my gratitude and admiration for the work you have done to help out others who are trying their best. I have only been in RC for 10 months and I now have my hangar full of warbirds which fly like a dream. My Spitfire is my pride and joy, but the Corsair is just beautiful to watch and listen to in the air. I am currently finishing off a Mosquito to round out my hangar.

CAN ANYONE PLEASE post pictures of your ZOLLNER CORSAIR COCKPIT INTERIOR?? I am trying to see where to install all the levers and "pin" heads to resemble appropriate levers and buttons... PLease show me your Cockpit.. I especially need to see the left side panel..THanks
BTW this is one heck of a GREAT KIT>... I have enjoyed putting it together..Just made the oxygen hose...will post pics tomorrow..

Hope these help! I made the small red scissors like handle on the aft section of the left panel out of very fine solder, some of it is in the kit. Also make the oxygen bottle tube out of the solder. For the tail wheel lock and other lever, can't remember what it was, just use the T pins. Color your seat belts with Model Master Acrylic paint, gray on the bottom and flat green on the shoulder straps.

Corsairjock or anyone with a H-9 Corsair...
Please help. I am rebuilding my Corsair after an eventful tip-stall
It was destroyed from F-1 forward and need dimensions
from F-1 to the firewall (new)
I was told 89mm on the right and 99mm on the left
but no downthrust figures.
Any help???

hi all. I have a top flight corsair and have been haveing trouble building the wing. I am thinking about ordering a wing kit for the hanger 9 corsair, as the dementions appear to be quite similar.

Could somebody be kind enough to take some mesurments of the hanger 9 corsair wing and post them for me, so I can see how close the fit might be, before I decide to order a wing kit.

wing thickness at the fuse, chord at the fuse and width of the fuse would be helpfull and greatly appreciated. I am pretty sure with a small amount of modification, the hanger 9 wing will fit without too much fuss.

The 2 Corsair dimensions are close enough that a wing COULD be adapted to the other make. Both have leading edge to trailing edge dimension of about 13" where the wings meet the fuselage. The H9 wing has an extended 'flat' area: the wing is straight where it extends from the fuselage, then it 'bends' down. I have modified my electric one by shortening the center section, thereby eliminating the flat portion where it extends from the fuselage.

The H9 fuselage has a little bit excessive amount of right thrust. This is great for people not familiar with warbird flying and/ or are rudder challenged. But if you are comfortable with the rudder, and know when to use it (whenever airspeed is low and engine power is high), then some/ most, or even all of the right thrust could be eliminated. I like to leave in just a little: say 1 degree.

Thanks corsairjock. I kinda figured it might be fairly close. The fuse is only in primer anyways so any modifications to it should be simple enough. So, I guess in a few weeks, after i get a few other ones finished up, i'll order a wing kit and give it a go.

How did you take off the "416" from the cowling? I am in the process of building mine and wondering how you guys made yours look so good. Did you sand it down then paint it? Or is there an easy way to get the numbers off? Thanks for any help.

I left the numbers on. We figured that the different colors going on the airplane would help distract from the cowl numbers. We are also going to put nose art over the numbers so that will help cover the rest of it up. You can wet sand the numbers off but don't sand too deep or you will get into the fibers of the glass and you'll wish you had just painted over the numbers.

CorsairJock....................Came across these pictures, really nice job on your mods. I'm installing The Sierra 95 degs. retracts before I go any further, I noticed in your pictures or it looks like........one of the retracts mountig rail (outboard) is lower than than the (inboard) rail. How much lower are they ?. I have done the same thing, dremeled out (not completely) the old retracts rails.

It may APPEAR to be lower because the retract bay is not centered in the lowest area of the gull. That is the way Corsairs are. The struts will be slightly inboard of the lowest part of the gull. The retract struts will be parallel to each other when correctly installed. The rails are all in the same plane and parallel

I am about to buy a Hanger 9 Corsair but am building a TF GE Corsair right now. I was curios if I have enough flap travel and what is recommended. Here are a couple pic's. Help me out. I plan on stripping and glassing the hanger 9 and putting in CJ retracts and flaps. I don't like them but have a free set on hand. Where did you guy's mount the air tank and servo for the main gear?

Here are a couple pics of my corsair. It has the Top Flite canopy. Looks waaayyyy better than the stock one! The bombs on the noseart represent my kids. At the time, one was on it's way. The tail numbers are me and my wifes anniversary. I thought she would be happy but when I showed her she just gave a blank stare and said. "hmm. Thats nice." No hug or anything! Nextime, naked pinup girls!!!
