Thanks GPaloz, you did a very nice job on this plane to say the least. I am building a ZP-51 at this time, also using a 3w75i in it. I ordered my ZP-38 today from Kitcutters, should get it in March or so. Its not in stock and I am in no hurry do to the P-51. My wife is going to kill me when she finds out. I will send photos of the 51 when I can, must get a camera. I am sure I will talk to you more on the 38 after I get it started. Thanks again

Hey G.
Just checking in, Hows the 38 coming any more work done? Have you read the article on http://www.rcwarbirds.com/ site about Lockheed enforcing a Trade mark Licensing on DJ Aerotech! This could cause a big problem for P-38 manufacturers.

Hi G. I just could not wait any longer, I should have my -38 tomarrow or the next day from lazerlizard. I have been looking over the plans and dont really see any problems building this plane. I do have one question however for you at the moment, how did you get the wood to layin the nose for the guns as good as you did? Thanks

Badlemon, Getting some things done. Some issues arose outside of the project that had to be tended to. Will be back in full gear this weekend. How's the 51 doing? Lightningman40, I'm not sure what you're inquiring. Is it the recesses for the guns? Regards G.

RE: Z P38 project
Hi GP. Yes it is the recess around the guns that I am asking about. Those guns look great, I got my -38 yesterday and I started building it today, I had to set up another table made from a large door to start this build. Now I have the P-38 in my basement and the P-51 out in the garage. I am taking one of the 51s to a friend this weekend to finish for me because I had a foam wing cut for this one and I dont have much experience with foam. Now back to the 38, back on page one< I think>you have a photo of your gun nose.I am asking how you made the gun ports for the guns, I can see in the photo where you sanded the balsa flush with the fiberglass nose. Is this 1/16 balsa? Have you seen the Motion Transfer Arm that BVM JETS have on there web site? I was wondering if this would work for the elevators, take a look if you would and tell me what you think. Its listed in accessories under carbon fiber molder accessories. Thanks G, Lowell

RE: Z P38 project
If anyone wants to know who cut the kit for me of the Ziroli P-38 it was done by LazerLizard, Jesse did a great job on this and got it to me in record time. I would recommend Jesse to anyone who wants a Ziroli or another kit from anyone else as far as that goes, the price is great and the service is assume. I will post photos of this build as well as my Ziroli P-51 as soon as possible.

RE: Z P38 project
Hey GP, Good to talk to you today. I found what you were talking about on former F-10, I fixed this problem and got alot done on the plane. I got all spars and wing ribs 1 thru 7 installed along with a few other things, its starting to look like an airplane now. I am hoping to get the bottom sheeting done on the wings tomarrow. I am going to sheet part of the fuselage also while I have it anchored down to the board just a couple of pieces on each side from the crutch to just above the wings so that I will have everything nice and straight. I also looked at those Robart flap hinges that I have and I agree with you that they just are not the ticket for this plane, they dont add hardly any more surface to the wind area if any when they go down. For what those things cost you would think Robart would make a real fowler flap hinge that dose what it is suppose to do.Talk to you soon.

RE: Z P38 project
Man, there is a lot of planking on this airplane. More work than I thought, well not really but it is taking alittle bit longer to do than I thought it would. I did not work on it today, got the flu and just not up for the task today. Hope to resume work tomarrow if I fell better. Still the plane is comming along very well, wish I had a camera so I could post photos. I hope I get called back to work or find a new job soon or I feel that this project maybe put on hold. I got to go out of state to help my dad out with a project he has going on so I will be gone for a week or two.Hey Longeasy, if you read this I spoke with GPaloz and he said to get ahold of you about hiding all controlls for the rudders and elevator < no pushrods hanging out the rearend of the plane> if I may ask, how did you do this on yours? Thanks all.

RE: Z P38 project
Well after a long hiatus I've returned. I decided on building this plane as a true J-5-LO so I've been modifying the related parts. The most noticable item is the wind screen. The early J's had the rounded wind screen. Here's some pics of how I did it. I cut the canopy at the windsheild frame. I then made a paper template to replace the flat windscreen. Once I got it looking right I taped it on.

RE: Z P38 project
After completeing this I found that I needed to refine the windsheild at the base and did so. I've also made a frame to give depth. Here is the result. When finally attached and painted it should be the ticket. Stay tuned G.
