Hey Folks, can't wait for Dayton next week. Look for some good sclae research info as well as a fun time. I hope to introduce a line of 1/5 scale kits at the show that I am now importing. Will be visiting the flight line for R/C planes. Good luck to everyone next week.

Vertical, I think you might be confusing my plane with another. My D7 has always had a Poulan 46cc chainsaw conversion in it... Which works well in it. Now with all the Chinese motors so cheap.. the conversion world has slowed way WAY down !
The old D7 still flies as good as day one.. and as of so far no dings or crashs ... BUSA really did a good job on the kit.

Here is both of mine at the last S.T.A.R.S Event in Syracuse, NY 2 weeks ago. They will be shown in the November AMA Magazine, so keep you eyes open for them. Dave Mathewson was impressed by the Dogfight, and my Fokker Dr1 that was once a ARF 12-14 years ago..
Being the only German to fly that day,I just had to pick a fight against a BUSA Camel with my Fokker DVII during the Warbird Demo.

Here is my H9 DVII redone as Walter Blume's Jast 9 plane.
This was a cool project and it was done with the help of my good friend and WWI buff Stan Alison.
Its powered with a Magnum 91 FS engine and custom pipe.
The machine guns are from Williams Bros. and we added details such as the ammo chutes and machine brass and stamped steel scale ammo belts. The pilot is from Aces Of Iron. Stan even replicated the bungee landing gear suspension and an interchangable tail wheel or scale skid.
Its getting a new Sullivan on-board glow system as the previous one was not compatible with the Spektrum system.
Hoping to maiden this one in the next few days.

Darn right! I notice that crowds always get a little more excited when WWI birds come out and dogfight. I guess it's kind of bringing back the nostalgia for the past in people. A few of my friends came up to us after the show and people were moving forward near the flight line to watch me and Dave duke it out. In the audio background on my video you can hear the announcer asking people and other pilots that weren't flying to back away from the flight line.
Dave (the pilot of the Camel) and I talked about the dogfight for hours. Sometimes we get lucky, like we were. I didn't know Dave, and he didn't know me, we both took a chance not knowing if the other person was going to do this in a safe way. We made it real as possible without making each other nervous by flying too close. After I jumped on his 6" I learned real quick that I was flying against a real good pilot and that helped.
I've seen some mock dogfights go bad when one or the other becomes undisciplined and ignores safety. I told my Spotter and wife that planes often collided, but I wanted to keep that type of realism out of it. Besides, we both didn't want to pay for each others plane.
The AMA said we did it right by keeping the dogfight away from the crowd, and other WWII fighters that were flying in the pattern. At first the Safety Officers wasn't sure if I veered off the pattern on purpose, so they asked me if I knew what a pattern flight was. I told him I did, while turning into my prey. Once the Safety Officer saw the kind of reation we were getting, and knew who I was flying against ( One of the Test Pilots for the S.T.A.R.S. Club) they left me alone to pick on him.
It's a adreniline rush to be involved in a WWI mock dogfight when it's done in a safe way. Plus I can practice realistic tactics at the same time. But what topped it off for me was having Dave Mathewson tell me that they are going to put my planes and name in their November issue. To me it's like getting your name and planes in the Holy Bible of Model Aviation. Never thought I'd get that far with a "Bashed ARF." It was fun trying to give them the info of each plane in a few sentences, when I've done so much to them.
So you bet Del, I had more fun than I thought possible.
Del,
Was there a good mock dogfight or two at the Dawn Patrol? And how did your Fokker DVIII fly after making those modifications? Any better? My wife and I plan to see you in person one day at a Dawn Patrol Show. We just have to rent a RV for that one.
Very nice works of art everyone! I'd be proud to fly with any one of you. Everyones Fokkers in this thread are beautiful. (Except for that DR1 on the flag pole) That's like a scene out of a horror film.

Jasta 7 Rules! When I redo my H9 Fokker I plan on doing Jacobs as well. Talk about having a realistic Jasta.[8D]
