RE: Is Pica going out of business?
hello there
I just talked to him, and he got your e-mail and he gonna send you a e-mail back.
Just wait for him reply.
I got one but i am also from Brazil so the price is different for me!
You can get the 1/5 spitfire canopy in two versions: Policarbonate ou PET.
Policarbonate is the same material of the real canopy so the quality is much nicer.
tks

RE: Is Pica going out of business?
Sounds like a lot of original Pica lovers out there, real builders. Is anyone interested in an original Pica P-51 kit, 89", with aluminum spinner and cockpit kit? This kit is in prisitine condition, and has always been in a controlled climate. I have two and know I'm not going to build one, much less two. Would like to see it go to a true builder that can appreciate something like this. It seems that all the "market" is interested in are arf's, cheap, and kits to buy and sell without knowing anything about them. Anyway, let me know, or it will grow as old as I am!

Check your mailbox for pm. I spoke with him on e-mail this past week, and the WACO ymf 3-5 in fifth scale is slated for release in July. He is promising me the first kit.
I tried initially to purchase the rights to this kit from them, and my offer was politely declined. That is how I first found the information on re-releasing these kits.

Just thought I'd follow up and ask if you've heard anything from Cox regarding the kit version. Thanks, Gary

RE: Is Pica going out of business?
It really bums me out about PICA. I am kit person myself and I really enjoyed PICA's 1/12 combat birds. I am thankful for buying the ones that I did back in the day but unfortunately have exhausted my inventory due to pilot error. If anyone knows where I could purchase more, I would be thrilled to know. Thanks guys

Try sheldons hobbies in san Hose Cal , I know they had a ton of them about a year ago , not very popular as far as weight to performance ratio .
I sold my FW on RCU for about $50 but I am keeping my 1/6 scale kits new in box for that "someday build "
I know many people want Pica , but its the same old same old , how bad do they really want them ? They go on sale on RCU and they sit there -reduced and reduced and reduced , I dont get it .
I watched two great 1/5 P40 kits semi build just sit on RCU , nice planes but did not sell , I have one to many or I would have picked one up

I wonder what to ask for a 1/5 Waco and a 1/5 T-28. The Waco has never been touched and the T-28's fin has been done is all. I realize I won't get to them and someone else could enjoy the kits.
I have moved to larger planes. I also have two Marutaka Birddogs NIB.
Any ideas?

Tom -go to ebay start high , you can get a better dollar from the true builder /collector of Picas , I have seen them on RCU , despite this post and all the people who love Pica , they dont get there true value on RCU , to many frugal buyers .
I have seen them go for $100 over orginal retail value on ebay .
I bought the 1/6 P40 for $189 at Sheldons , the 1/5 was going for $229 , what an idiot I was , not only did I not buy it(1/5) but I came back and told everyone on RCU where to get them lol so needless to say there was a mjor run and they sold them all , this was about 2 years ago .
They were being resold on e-bay as high as $399 and up for the 1/5 scale , you never know good luck

RE: Is Pica going out of business?
May not be the right place to ask, but does anyone know of a build thread on the Cox Pica 1/5 Waco? Picked mine up earlier this week and'll start on it next week. Saito 150 for power.
Thanks

RE: Is Pica going out of business?
Hmmm glad I checked this forum seems that dusty old box under my bed is worth a couple o bucks 1/6 Spit (lazer cut)
Too bad pica never came back. I wonder why you all hoard your prints, templates an build logs?? If you love these kits so much why would you let them die?
Its way easy to turn your prints into files and share them. I know some say its illegal but isnt it a bigger crime to let them fade away ?
Kit cutters will cut anything you want these days but to pay them 200 plus AND buy the plans seperate is crazy. Talk to your kids an grandkids they'll help you get them onto a CD for a few bucks then you can share the knowledge an probably make a buck or 2. The way I see it you bought the kit an plans you own them you can do what you want with them, especially the ones that are no longer with us !!!
Anyway keep a great hobby going, teach a kid to build !

RE: Is Pica going out of business?
Hi Rob , ebay is a great source of Pica kits , I try to get one a year for the "someday build " I have a 1/6 P40 and a FW D9 .
WHile many of these were designed by the great Dave Platt , the details ect are really not that great compared to the modern days kits .
If you visit rcscalebuilders there is active threads on many of the pica builds and you can see the major mods from lightening all the wood to adding scale details
