Thanks for sharing Jeremy, those were quick flypasts.
Masked the roundels on the wings, leading edge yellow marking, as well as the chrome on the leading edge of the flap.
I hope to get up early tomorrow and get the bottom of the wings painted.

Bottom of the wings are now painted. Gave it a little rub with "0000" steel wool just to bring out the effect. Should look pretty good when the whole airframe is done to bring out the details.
Will be doing the top grey colour soon.

Painted the Ocean grey on the top of the wings. It s still drying, and will check for good coverage before cleaning up for the night.
Will do the green in a few days.

The dark green is now applied to the tops of the wings. Still need to paint the horizontal stabs, and some other small parts.
Removed all the masking from the roundels, top and bottom as well as the masking for the leading edge marking.
Will let is harden a few days before I wool it down with "0000" steel wool which will blend the paint

Yes I will be clearcoating after all the painting, and rub on transfers are applied, as well as some weathering of dirt, and a bit of grim. So it will be a gloss finish just like the one I am modelling.
Painted the call letters on the tail, as well as the red fuel caps. One on each wing and the one on the fuselage portside. Once wooled down they should look pretty good.
Still need to do the small maple leaf on the fin, which I will tackle next.

Have been progressing well with the small roundel for the fin.
Masked of the main circle, sprayed some white. Then masked off for the light blue circle, and sprayed it light blue.
Removed the mask, and the white is exposed.
Made the template for the Canadian Maple leaf............that was fun [:@]
When the blue has dried, I will put the flag template on, and pray it red. The leaf is pretty small so I will use light dusting coats.
I will post more as I complete the marking.

Worked on securing the horizontal stab.
Using some hysol, I glued in some wooden dowels into the alum tube and let it sit for 24 hours.
Drilled and tapped for a 6-32 screw. Inserted the screws, now I have a good secure method to hold the horizontal stab into location. Makes it easy to remove if necessary.
Next I can finish painting the stab both top and bottom

Spent the last few days painting the horizontal stab.
After it has time to set up, I will wool it down so it blends nice, and the details will pop out.

My Promark Graphics arrived in the mail today.
I ordered the 100" Nomenclature set. They look real good.
Now the fun part begins with the application of the graphics.

I clear coated the bottom of the fuselage and wings tonight.
I am using KlassKote for my clear. Used it before on my P-47 with good results.
I willl let this set up for the required 24hrs before proceeding with the top.

Still needs a bit more clearcoat for the bottom of the wings, so instead of doing it in the morning, figured I would stay up and give it another coat. Just mixed up another batch and after 40 minutes I can apply it. Prefer to have it bond with the previous coat before it sets. Hope to be in bed by 3am Love this hobby!!!

Thanks dvs1, it is starting to look pretty good.
No idea reference the drop tanks Peter, I am sure someone will chime in.
Finished up clearing the top, so she is done. Removed the masking of the windscreen, always nice to be able to do that.
I still have lots to do, still need an engine and attaching the doors etc.
Looking forward to putting it together to have a look. I will wait at least a week before I do that.

Hi Craig,
Very nice job you did...just beautiful ! Looking at your pictures gives me again some energy and inspiration to continue the building of our Mustang.
The last month I was busy building an Extra 330L from Comp arf for the summer days here in Belgium, the past weeks we had the chance to have a wonderful weather here.
We will post some pictures later on.
Again congratulations with the result you booked...
regards from Belgium,
Erwin & Jonas
