Thanks Dave
You got it, I have one other person in line first. Should have a fully working set in a couple weeks, all you would have to do is glue canopy to the carbon frame and mount the rails. I have finally completed the CAM program to produce them. Will keep you posted.

Got a tracking number this morning! yes, the 135 with 270 degree timing. keleo scale exhaust. Hans makes a baffle kit specifically for the carf. Electric start as well. I'll be honest, I am a corsair and FW 190 fan, never really been into mustangs, but after seeing video of the Kolm, I had to have one. Greg Wright happened to be selling his right about that time, so it worked out. As soon as I get the motor and mounting kit, I should make good progress. I have the taylor made decals for this plane, and it will be painted with liquid metal… I will post pics of the motor as soon as it arrives! Its not going to be super scale, just a cool sounding plane with a nice paint job...

Are you going to make a winter project to bring the mustang back to life? You just can't leave that Kolm engine unemployed!

I'm pretty sure a high end car paint shop could hook you up.

This info below was posted literally just over 6 years ago in a prior post. It'd be awesome if builders could chime in with updates to it.

Aerotech models is no longer selling planes. They closed there doors in 2008. If you are in need of props scale specialties web site sells prop blade kits for Aerotech planes & others.

Yes, I have. I think the kit is night and day way better than the earlier ones I have read about on this thread. If you check the website you can see that all the new hinges preinstalled. Also there are no seams or join lines to repair. Everything straight. I would have loved to see them take it a step further and pre-installed all the hatches and servo mounts and done all the cut outs for it. At any rate I was very happy with it. And, Andy Kane my CARF rep. was very helpful with my questions and supplying parts to make the build easier when I get started this winter. Hope this helps. Dave

If one of y'all with a newer airframe have pics that would be great. Curious to see how they got by not having the seam to finish. Unless they are finishing them at the factory. My ultra flash had the seam cleaned up and painted from the factory. How's the fit of the wings and stabs on the new ones?

Chris,
I don't remember what i used. I sold the plane to Dr Scoles a year or so ago.
I want to say i put some Spektrum 6150 HV's in the stabs. They were rated at 180oz of torque at 7.4 volts. If not then they were the 5060's rated at 118oz at 7.4 volt.
I would think that the latter would be plenty of torque for each elevator.

The guys flying these big CARF models with Kolm 135 & 150 & and the 200 have been using 300-500oz servos Im told. The question Ive had is how they solved the elevator installation issue because these servos are wider than the stab chord thickness.
On our Mustang we are considering epoxying the stabs on the fuse because we have no need to remove them for travel. So an access hatch on the bottom and a single or dual servos is the basic plan right now. Similar to the other werbirds from CARF currently.
I'll probably end up designing something

Chris,
I just did a test with my FibreClassics mustang and it looks as if a JR 8911HV would just fit into the stab if it was done with a hatch to access the servo. Just like i did in the pictures above. They are a standard size servo with like 500oz of torque at 7.4 volts. I still don't think it's really needed though.
If you were going to pylon race the plane with the kolm engines then i could see it being needed but i don't think thats what you will be doing.

No not racing it but mainly having the built in margin of safety because this plane will live on a grass field. I want tough servo transmissions on the larger control surfaces for extra strength and longevity.
Chief is gaving a servo sale on Hitec servos so we ordered the HS 7980 and 7950 servos for the wings. The higher torque servo for the flaps.
I did use one of the online servo calcs and for the flap area at 60-80 mph for example it spit out a 400 ounce estimate.
