At last I have finally got around to building my hurricane, Only had it in the box for two years but i had other projects on the go and did not want to get them mixed up lol can you imagine a hybrid Muzzi / Hurricane & Spitfire.
Any way below the wing and Radiator pod..

I still have some work to do such as the decals and mounting bolts and so on. Also this is my tail wheel.

Dear All,

Would someone have an exhaust pipe kit he could sell me? Because I bought the plane from a friend who had had it for at least one year and who didn't really have time to work on it, and he lost the exhaust pipes...

Also he made big holes on the cowl for the engine he intended to install but I don't need these for my engine, so would someone maybe have a cowl he could sell me?

Otherwise, I can make some repairs but I will need painting and does someone know the brand and reference of the original paintings?

I thank you a lot in advance.

Nicolas

TOUCH UP PAINT??

Does anyone have a formula to mix some Testors enamels to get some accurate touch up colors for this bird?

Planning to use my Badger airbrush.

Hi everyone,

Darjen38, thanks a lot for your answer. I followed your advice and write to YT but I had a failure notice... the address was not found!
I tried to connect to Yt site but it doesn't work!! Impossible to find the web page...
Does someone know if they changed their address or something else?

I thank you a lot!

Dear Sir,

thanks for your answer.

I wrote to Bobs Hobbies and will see what he answers...

Would you know the brand/reference of the paintings used for this plane please? In case I could not find a replacement cowl...

I thank you again.

Best regards,

Nicolas

when the need for a paint job comes, we dont even try to match the colours, the shades can vary batch to batch anyway, what i do is to take a panel to a car paint shop, and have the colours computer matched, they generaly do a sample, and keep the paint formula, from this, you can get spray cans, or paint made up to your model, the paint is 2 pack, so anything will go over it,

Glad to see this thread is still going. My Hurricane is still flying after 75 flights. Will be entering a Scale Masters Event next weekend in Hemet, CA. Have been seriously practicing my scale manuevers and the three bladed prop(15x8) pulls the plane around pretty good at scale speed.

Hey dlc2222,

nice your Hurricane.
Can you tell me which engine you use? A 1.20?

Thanks,

Nicolas

Dlc2222,

OK thank you! I would have guessed a 3-blade 15x8 prop would be a bit too big for a 120...

I'm installing a RCV120SP on mine, and these engines are reduced 2:1, so they have plenty of torque and they are given to be able to run a 3-blade 15.75x12 (x12 because they turn half the speed of an unreduced engine...).
Reading that the OS 120 FS is able to run a 3-blade 15x8, I'm wondering if the RCV120SP would not be able to run a 3-blade 17 or 18" prop...

Thanks a lot,

Nicolas

Paladin,

I'm sorry, I have just seen that I thought your answer was that of Dlc2222... that's why I was talking about 3-blade props, in regards to his message.
But thanks a lot all the same for your answer!

Besides, do you know guys that KMP in Canada do advise a 90 for this plane??!! What do you think of that? Don't you think it would be a bit too small?

Thanks,

Nicolas

Hi I my self have used a Laser 120 fs with a 15 x 8 prop but I am going to use a 14 x 6 three blade when the engine is run in. I know you all know this but I was always told that if you are going to use a three blade prop then it must always be one inch less than the normal prop. As to the power output of the engine I would agree that a 120 would be the best option.

Good Luck.....

to nicov1978,

I have been flying this Hurricane with a YS-140 Sport. I just completed a Scale Masters Regional Qualifier event and came in 3rd! I now have approximately 80 flights. The 3-blade prop works great and flight characteristics are scale.

Hi dlc2222,

Congratulations! And your Hurricane looks very nice!

I don't remember whether I already wrote it, but I'm installing a RCV120SP engine on this Hurricane. One of the features of this engine is a integrated 2:1 reduction gear! Thanks to that, I will run a 17" or 18" (probably 18") 3-blade propeller!!
It will be very nice and very close to the perfectly scale prop size!

Have a good day,

Nicolas

Hi Guy's,

Where are you all getting your 3 blade spinners from? I have a YS 120 in my Hurri and can't get a nice 3 blader that looks scale-ish.
I emailed True turn and Dave Brown several times but they never reply. There's nothing down here In Aus.

Advice or any links would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Cj

Hi Boltman,

You wouldn't by any chance have the tru-turn part number or the tower number for that spinner
would you?.

Thanks,
Trevor.

Trevor,

Sorry it is over 3 years since I bought that spinner, but I am sure that if you search around on tower's website you will find it.

Cheers

Nicolas,

The prop you see in the pic's is only for static, it's a 16" Master Airscrew that I re-shaped the tips and put on for the photos.

Unfortunately the OS 120 4 stroke will not spin a prop that big.

Cheers

Mick
