been an interesting long weekend. We had Tropical Cyclone Oswald decide to march down from up North and park himself over the top of South East Queenland for the last few days. Areas around Bundaberg have suffered their worst recorded flooding and had 6 tornados touch down.

Here is Brisbane we have had crazy cyclonic weather all weekend and a lot of flooding, not as bad as the 2011 floods but we are expecting a king tide peak on the Brisbane river at lunch time so will be interesting.

Luckily where we are is on high gound so all good. No modelling for a bit as my Dad is in a nursing home and has been pretty hectic family wise.

Take care guys
cheers
Peter

Got my custom made prop washer that my friend made for me. This way I can use the old spinner set up from the other engine. I'll take some more pictures in a few weeks when I get the plane ready to fly. The one closer to us is the new one. The one in the back is the stock one that comes with the engine.

They changed the prop mounting area. They now come with two washers like the one in the back in my picture. I'll take some pictures tomorrow when I get back out in the shop and post them so you can see the new setup.

Bob,
was pretty wild weather. Towns to the North were badly affected with tornados and major flooding.

Here in Brisbane we had wild weather, torrential rain, gale force wind and some small scale flooding but nothing like 2011. Logan area of Brisbane had some bad flooding.

Will take areas such as Bundaberg and Rockhampton some time to recover though.

We are all good here though!
cheers

Pete. Glad things are OK where you're at.

Bob. Here are some pictures of the new stile prop hub on the ZP-62. They come with 2 prop washers. Flat on one side and a tab on the other. The reason for me getting a prop washer made with a tab on both sides is to keep my old prop bolt covers concentric on the hub. Hope this makes sense.

I've been kind of quiet cause I'm working on a 1/4 Scale Fokker D-7. The Jug will come off the shelf this weekend and will do it's duty at our Annual Mall show.

workshop is now all packed up ready for the move. Will take some boxes and maybe the benches too using a mates van to save some costs. @ $143 / hour for removalist why the hell not!

P47 is safely cradled in the trailer between the P51, Seafury and big spitfire.

Will be back on to things after April.

Hey Pete,

Are you coming out to the comp at Gratton Field? I did not see your name on the entry list but thought you might come out for a look.

I am competing and arrived today.

Flying a P-47 about the same size as the TF one, but this thing is fully moulded and electric powered.

Cheers

Mick

Mick,
no mate, was asked by Ron to be a static judge but moving over next couple of weeks and simply don't have the time to spare. Maybe next time. I don't have enough stick time at present either. [:@]

I'm sure it will be a great event with Greg running the show! [8D]

cheers

Pete,

Shame you can't make it out, would have been good to catch up.

No comp flights today for scale, only a practise session.

Got a fly of Greg's new Meister Jug with the Moki 150 in it while he had it on mode 2 for Ali & Mike McConville to fly. Bloody nice!!!

Here is a short edited video of my P47 3W85 12 servo's mostly HT.645.two 6.6v abc batteries into a smartfly two switches 2300mah NMH ignition battery Al's Custom retracts.
This is flat chat. Yummy sound 6300 rpm on the deck and must be pushing 7000 in the air.
Actually it was under propped it had a crap 26X10 wooden Chinese prop on it. The prop cost all of $16 i have done so many props with bad landings that i am using the EL. cheapo's as i have more then my share of expensive busted props. You think a kholm engine sounds nice try this for size but then again it is German.
This prop was ripping at the bottom of the dives, that means the tips were braking the sound barrier and you lose efficacy from the prop and there is no point that is except for the sound yummmeeee.
So i will prop it up maybe a 27X10 or a 26X12, the best torque is around 6000 to 6500 there is no point taking it beyond that as you get no more power, oh yes 85cc and 40 Pounds of static thrust makes a Top flight P47 go well and the landing was good as well, aint i clever.
That prop is getting old now any way its got 5 flights on it well that's old for me.
So far 23 flights and still in one bit.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiW7wSFBqEA
Thanks to Pip. for spending the time to edit this. It was taken from the two flights i had that day i will try to get hold of the full unedited footage for a look see and listen .
Friday afternoon's at our club.
http://www.wrcs.org.au/
It's always good for the big boys with there big toys, the day this footage was taken was like a mini scale day Pip with his Top Flight P40 with a DLE 55 and a Zero with an OS 5 cylinder Sirius 50cc me with the P47 monster it still scares the daylights out of me and Stan with his big biplane.
Good day all round. Lots of naughty boys hopping the wag from work.
Dave. (blackfingernail on our site)

just checking in guys. Move is complete and I am setting up the workshop. Have less room so some projects are going into storage for a bit. step daughter and her little one are moving in with us for a bit so a nice little family. Will be back onto my models in a couple of weeks.

If it ever stops raining here I might get to painting the 47 or build an Ark!

A few photos of flood damage about 5 hours North West of Brisbane that I took on a recent work trip. We had whole valleys flooded and the sheer volume of water thet went through these areas has to be seen to be really appreciated.

Glad your move is finished. I hate moving. It does take a while to get things sorted out.

I'm thinking around 2 more weeks and I can fire up my new engine in the 47.

My winter project is coming along. Finished all the framing today. Now comes the hard part. Here are few pictures for Bob T. to keep him going till the P-47s get cranking again.

Mine and Howard's P-47s at the annual mall show.

Tom,
is that one of those "fokkers" hehe

Good to see some new projects coming along. I am excited at prospect of having the workshop set up again. As Trudy is in her first Semester of her Masters of Education and Leadership she will be very busy of an evening with her readings and assignments. Hence I can happily potter in my workshop. [8D]

Family life is good, the little one is a delight but she is a livewire as only 2 1/2 years can be.

Yeah the floods are back in those areas I drove through last week. Today though is sunny so hoping that is it for the rain for quite sometime.

Looking forward to just chilling out this weekend.

Cheers

Bob T. It's a BUSA Kit. It's nor an easy kit to build. I'm glad I built the Top Flite kit first. It gave me a little experience.

Pete. It's great to see you happy again. Floods Suck. I remember the reservoir flooding a few years back. When the water receded the smell from the rotting vegetation wasn't very pleasant.

Tom are you going to Toledo this year?

Also I am ready for panel lines on my wing. When you used the aluminum tape for access doors details
did you cut the corners square or did you round them up? Looks on the pics on page 261 I think that you kept them square.

Good job on your build, I am sure it will be another masterpiece.
