Hi kurrikan
Your progress look great, that said why don't you start your own thread, I am sure there would be a lot of intrest. I know I would follow you
You may not know but Pete Oz the op of this thread was banned fore speaking his mind to a guy that was not adding any thing to the thread, so what you see is just some of the old friends trying to keep up and in touch. but I am sure Pete would not mind if you posted hear.
Cheers Bob T
PS ware are you from madrid

Hay Manuel
When you start your thread post the title.
I spent about 7 months at the airport /Brahass (spelling ) doing a refurbish of the big engine test cell, and on my week ends I tried to see the country, went to as many old castles/ churches as time allowed. had a great time the only bad thing was I do not speak Spanish so I buddied up with 2fellows from Chula Vista CA of Mexican decent, we found most 99 % of the people to be vary friendly and they picked up dialect vary quick.
Cheers bob T

Wow,
I've been MIA for a few months and just got caught up. It appears that I have missed quite a bit. I sincerely hope Old DC will continue to post updates on Pete's progress. I'm disappointed in him not being able to be in his thread. I've read every post and often it hasn't always been about the P-47 but it has been entertaining and fun. His plane is pretty incredible. I didn't expect any less. Good on him and I am wishing him success and Joy in the maiden. Funny thing is he doesn't need this forum, this forum needed him. If he was still on I'd tag him with the nickname Clint. Clint Eastwood as in " The Good, The Bad and the Ugly".
I miss Pete.

I don't miss Pete at all. I talk to him on Face Book almost every day. I'm just waiting for the maiden. Didn't go back here to see what was posted but "He's Ready".

Chreers Bob T
I have flown a pair of Jugs the same size as the Top Flite, one weighs 28lb & the other 35lb. I flew the two in different categories in the same competition, jumping between the two over 4 days. Both are powered by DLE55s. The only notable difference was that with the elevator set up to give a similar feel in general flight, the heavier one felt like it took alot more pull to bring the nose up coming out of the bottom of a loop or half reverse cuban. Not even any difference in the landing characteristics. All that with 7lbs difference, I can't see Pete's extra 3lb being too big a problem.
Boltman, great planes you have there!
The DLE55 is an engine with a lot more oomph than the DA50. Pete's P47 is a magnificent airplane which has taken many years to complete. The DA50 with a 18.32 kg airplane really is a marginal power plant. You want some extra power to be able to pull out of those difficult situations that no doubt will arise. You don't want a situation where you barely get the machine off the ground only to find yourself having difficulties making the first turn. I have seen it happen.

I spent last weekend with Pete at a warbird fly in. Pete's Jug does look as good in the flesh as it does in the pics. Unfortunately due to showers of rain Pete packed it away before I could get some pics of our P-47s together, nor did I get to see it fly. It had flown successfully on a previous weekend and Pete reports that the DA50 is more than ample power. Still some minor dialing in to do with setup but Pete is pretty happy with it.
Cheers!
Hi P47Pilot, I think you are giving the DLE too much credit to say it has "a lot more oomph than the DA50". I do run a DA50 as well and would say there is not much difference between the two.

- I want to thank all the help I received from this thread, I maiden the P-47 last week, The first flight I had a zinger 24x10 prop and the saying is true, they make good paint stirrers, second flight I had a 24x12 moki prop and much better. Visit my FB page for the second flight. Third flight was much better as I was not so nervous and the plane was much better with about 6oz of nose weight. I have a couple of issues to fix but hope to get her back in the air soon.
- Thanks so much for the help and ideas. Ronald
