Pete I don't have a clue on how the full size tiggy was rigged, but most bips with flat bottom wings and set at 0 deg's with the thrust line will require about 3 deg's of positive horizontal stab angle to stop the climing as it is the nature of the airfoil, as I am sure you know
now one more bit from an old geezer a tiggy was not ment to be flown at full throttle hehe
Now back to my dish to lay down

I've talked to a few WWI RC pilots. They said at one time everyone tries to get rid of the climbing tendencies of the old biplanes. When they can't they just learn to live with it and trim for cruising speed. About the only thing that people do to combat the climbing tendency is to increase the incidence of the top wing by shimming the back of the wing. I added 3/8" or 9mm to my Fokker.

Full throttle especially with the MVVS 30 which is a really hot engine, full throttle with the 18x10 wooden prop it really screams.
Man is such a sleepy mood, only 7.45am too and I have loads of work to do but could quite happily curl up and snooze like an old tomcat

Ok with Old Tom's comments, that is one way to do it, and works quite well. So I just have sit up and make another, I used to have an old aircraft engineering manual (lost in a house fire) but as I remember with flat bottom wings ie; clark Y type airfoils the horizontal cord line of the lower wing should be parallel with the thrust line ie: data line, the upper wing cord line could be from 2 to 5 deg's negative incidence and the stab cord line could be 1 to 3 deg's positive incidence, depending on the particular design, that being said in the building my bipes I have stuck with those rules and have had vary good results even with full and semi symmetrical air foils. So that's my story and I am sticking with it.

Tom the way the H9 tiggy is set up you cant shim the back of the wing. The struts bolt to the side. It has about 2 degrees + then it should have compared to full size. I'm going to do as you say, will trim for puttering about and add a small throttle mix to elevator if I want to speed up a little.
Mostly I fly about at 1/4 throttle and only open up for aeros. The extra power is handy for vertical to do stall turns and small diameter loops which it does nicely. At 1/4 thorttle I can stooge about doing tight circles at very low altitude and it is so docile and slow you can get away with it easily.
Niice seeing the tiggy down low.
Funny actualy when flying to hear people calling out "low pass from the right" ...... zooom mach 2 pass

I like it but I don't have any more room in my shop.
Got out for about an hour (I only live 3 miles from our field) with the sparky thingy way to much wind, now it going to be rain for 3 more day's.

at least you got out Bob. I did not go Sunday, was not in the mood for it. Did a bit of work on the 47 rubbing down the red blade putty filler. Had to reapply in a couple of areas. Really annoys me this as it was all a result of hanger rash when I had to get all my planes out of the exs place and did not have time to pack the plane carefully enough. Bloody woman grrrrrrr 
Anyway it is a bit of work and getting closer.
Did a bit on my petrol, gas to you septics fuel caddy. It has a SIG fuel pump but want to be able to reverse the motor without crossign the wires on the battery. So bought a $1.95 SPDT slide switch and a push botton on/off switch. Wired the SPDT switch for reversing so push it one way and the motor pumps to fill, select the other way and it runs in reverse and drains the tank. Simply reverses polarity to the pump motor. Gel cell on the rear so now all nicely in one unit and no wires to the flight box.
Heading to Bundaberg warbirds next weekend with the mustang.

you know Pete we are starting the Summer season here in the States. Something happening about every weekend around here. Saturday we had Pylon Races at one of my clubs. I don't do that so they put me to work on the Walkie Talkie and be the official starter. I Qualified because I can count down from 5. My second grade education came in handy.
Today at one of my other clubs. The Closest to my house. There was a Fun Fly. This is what I built the little 60 stick with the DLE-20 on it. As it turned out, my first Fun Fly ever turned out to be a success.

well done on first place mate!! The old Ugly Stik are great models. Mate of mine has one and has had it for about 15 years. I'd like a Dragon Lady or maybe a big 1/3rd scale spacewalker. Simple fun planes.
We have regular events at my club too. Someof them are annoying because if you forget to check the website you can rock up to fly and find it is aheli day, god forbid or some other nonsense event.

lol! very early days but she thinks the planes are very interesting and cool. She has already learnt not to expect me to put my own interests second. Wont make that mistake again.

More power to you, was kinda like that before I met the wife but that was a loooong time ago.
On to the main subject flying, got out this afternoon got in some good flying but broke a prop on the last landing got the next 3 days off so going to try to get the corsair and the 47 out for a fly, and we are in for more thunder storms all week end.

I have some good news. I got the engine fired up in the big Extra. Seems to run good. I got the idle down to 1500. That is where I liked my other planes. Hope it works on this one. It is important to be able to idle down for the Stall Spin maneuver. Things are looking up. Probably have the maiden the day after tomorrow. Bad weather and a followup eye appointment for the wife rules tomorrow out.
