Thanks Pete. I needed that.

Got some IMAC guys practicing at my field till Tueasday. They are here to compete in the first ever World Championships. It's kind of cool having these great pilots around. Yes I'm asking questions and even getting some answers. Having a great time even if it's not warbirds.

well at least you are having fun though IMAC bores me to tears.

Just back from a work trip for a few days so will do a bit more on the 51 tomorrow. got to lay down some 6oz over the layup of the 2oz cloth I made for the chin intake area.

Pretty cool Pete. Good for Pay Pall.

I'm not going with retracts for the winter build. Decided to try one of these.

got a small case of pneumonia so hope for a couple of days. did some work on vampire though, hooking up flaps and ailerons to the wings. Will get some more that done tomorrow and might get a chance to spin it up on weekend. Will get a mate of mine Dave to test fly her, aka ticketec

Don't get run down to much. The older you get the harder it is to recover.

speaking of IMAC I was at the world championships and the Oz Team finished 3rd.

yeah and I'm finding that. Not having somebody to look after me does not help either, been a very tough 10 months. Anyway I am resilient so will bounce back.
Will head down to the shed soon as it is warm today and will get some more done on the vampire.

Cheers

Hay Pete

I am with OLDTOM don't let your self get to run down as this old bugger can tell you from experience, recovering can be sloooow.

We had a few good days so I got out for a fly with the old dragon lady, and I think I have all of the bugs out of my Week's with the new RCGF-62, hope to get it and the Corsair/ 47 out this next week depending on the weather and, I have had them all on the bench exersizing things to keep them limbered up.

The weather guys are saying we may have another long winter due to the poler vortex, and I am not looking forward to it, that's it from flyover land.

hey Bob,
keep rugged up mate, I could not survive your cold winters.

Its been a nasty bug this time and I'm on some very strong meds which are also knocking me about. Only 3 more days of those thank goodness. Back at work but not feeling flash.

Good you have those models ready to go.

P51 - I am waiting on the cowl inlet layup to fully cure. Should be right by weekend then I can cut the excess and sand back. Then to attach it to the lower cowl and reinforce it. Couple of little jobs in fuz but very minor then it is ready to be re-certified again.

P47 will then be back on bench once Vampire is out of the way.

cheers
Peter

Only have to fit the booms, tiday up cabling and wait for replacement retract unit and the vamp is done.

P51 wise I will attach the new chin layup to the lower cowl. That will take a few days to cure so what am I suppsed to work on then???

OMG!! The P47 comes to mind. I'll have to get in and finish the little bit of sanding on the fuz, finish the landing gear rail reinfocing and get ready to paint this damn thing!!!

Yes Bob will post some piccies for you mate

well had some good flying with the 1/4 tigermoth and cub on sunday. Only 1 on the cub as the throttle servo started to play up with the engine running, not sure what the issue is.

Did a little on the mustang sunday arvo.

Damn vampire consuming far too much effort at the moment. Have to make a new thrust tube as the one supplied is too narrow and is restricting the eflux according to my jet guru dave!

Rx is browning out as the UBEC cant handle the laod of the servos or one servo is pulling a bit too much current, not sure yet. Works fine with a seperate battery pack so might do that. 8S lipo for the fan and seperate 6v pack to drive the flight servos.

Nothing on the 47 except to move it out of the way! Off on a work trip for a few days so probably not much on anything till friday night.

well some bad news. Went flying Sunday with the Cub, first flight was lovely, engine on sing. Second flight took off and was in the climb out, got to about 40 feet or so and the engine started to sag, could not climb, could not turn back to the strip as I was over trees.

Had it on point of stall and it was ocilating back and forth, got it settled and was trying to get it slowly turned back to the strip but had to go around a large tree. yes you guess it, stright into the top of the tree which is about 70ft high, down it went.

Thought it would be totalled but wing is intact but fuz has quite a bit of damage, all very fixable.

Think I had a sticky valve on one cylinder as it had been playing up previous weekend. Hence no power.

Just what I need, another model to repair :-(

anyway will continue with the Mustang and get it flyable.

Tiger Moth is on the bench as I am rebuilding the carby, not a big deal.

Still working on the Vampire too

Bahhh

DOH!!!!!

Sorry to hear that mate, I've just gone through a modelling funk myself. Nothing absolutely major to repair, but enough work to annoy and keep from building the "next" one. You'll get over it!

Thanks

Hay Pete

Don't feel bad as your not alone we had some nice day's took out the weeks pipe with the new RCGF-62 Dum thumbed it on take off, no structural damage but a bunch of little things, so next day is nice so I take out the Corsair flies great but kinda sloppy landing but down safe so time for another go nice clean take off I do my thing set up for landing with a bit more speed nice clean touch down but hot, so the roll out is in to the tall grass at an angle so a kind of rotating tip over lots of damage, have not had time to do a full inspection as yet but it is ugly but reparable, next day we are out with the bad-bipe thingy and the hog its a delta thing, The bad bipe flies great every thing is looking up, Then its hog time and it is made out of coroplast and an electric so the we three are going to fly a combat sortie, it is a real hoot and all of the sudden two us are trying to fly in the same air space and we are up kind of hi, one of my buddies T bone me lots of pieces fly and flutter my bird is now in a none recoverable spin straight in so the only thing salvageable is the motor, esc, servos, and bat.
Well on the bright side they say things happen in threes so maybe my bad luck is over
