yeah happy turkey day you lot hehe
unless you are the turkey!
We had a mini cyclone last night in brisbane, power out everywhere, mine is still out and quite a bit of flooding and damage, trees uprooted etc.
Sadly one of our very talented cricketers, Phil Hughes passed away after being struck in the head by a bouncer. He was to be 26 this Sunday. Rest in Peace.

Just global warming He He
Don't know a bit about cricket, but it is sad when any one at that age passes, but be assured he is in a better place.
Cheers bob T

glabal warming my ar se!! Just a UN scam pushed by leftist morons such as Al Gore so they can scam loads of cash off people like us!! Grrrrr
Yeah very sad then an umpire got hit in the jaw by a crocket ball and also dies, in Israel of all places. Did not know they even played cricket there.
Israel vs pakistan test matches could be very interesting! LOL
ok on to all things model planes. Nice relaxing fly and chit chat with mates on Sunday, only took the Astrohog hog out and had 3 good flights. Landings all nice and taxiied back. 2nd takeoff there were a few magpies sitting in the middle of strip, balsted things refused to move. so I took off nearly hitting one. It just stood there looking as I saided pst it. Funny.
Saturday I got a bit of fiddly work done on the P47. Does not look much but all takes time. Applied the silver to inner gear doors to simulate the bare metal area. Some 47s have it and some don't. the one I am doing does, obviously.
Also sprayed the brackets that lock the main gear door to the legs. One little area to wet sand on the wing and it is ready for top colour painting.
Next job will be the mounting for the dummy antenna then onto getting the fit for the cowl correct. I'm not happy with it at the moment so will take a bit of fiddlying about to get it right.
Fuz is then ready to paint.
Need to get some slow thinners though. Far too humid for painting otherwise.
that's me!

ps who remembers daktari? Old 60s TV show.

Well I will give you my take based on all of the studies in have been able to read on the inner net, IT IS ABUNCH OF B/S as the earth has had cycles more severer than what we are seeing now, volcanos in one eruption produce more toxic gas than all of mans doing's from day one.
But this is not the place for this conversation, and it does not matter if it is an opinion or not.
Hay Pete I like the looks of your doors, I did not do them as I thought they were out of my league. making some head way on the repair of the Corsair and the Weeks just some tiding up on the corsair and it is ready to glass, the Weeks is another story still have some structure to go.
The weather hear was -5 deg's thurs and per the weather guys it is going back in the dumper all of next week
cheers Bob T

Al Gore and his leftard fools, the UN and the whole global warming nonsense is the biggeest socialist scam ever devised to redistribute wealth.
The UN gets 10% of all climate change credits.

Bob,
doors are easy to make, even now. Get a sheet of A4 paper, with the gear in up possie, tape over the gear bay where you need the door to go marking where the outer door sits. that is your template for the inner door.
Then get some plastic sheet that is stiff but will conform to the wing airfoil shape & tape it over the well opening where the inner gear door needs to be.
Lay down a layer of cling wrap / lunch wrap.
Using 6oz cloth or carbon fiber cloth cut out a pice of cloth large then the piece you want to make, be generous and allow a couple of inches extra all around - easy to trim later.
Wet it with finishing resin that has been thinned with metho.
Build up about 6 layers like this. Check all bubbles are out and it is laying down correctly and giving the correct shape.
Let cure.
Make sure it is stiff enough, you may need to epozy some balsa inside like I did to stiffen it up.
Cut to the dimesions you need, sand and finish off.
Hinge and hook up a air cylinder, you will need to calculate the gemotery for the cylinderlength and where to put the mounting points and ball.
Not hard, ruler and dividers are all that is needed.
cheers

Hey Peter,
A quite awhile ago, you made me a cowl chin divider for the giant scale P47. I'm now building a TF 60 sized P47 and cannot find such an animal. Do you have any suggestions as to where I would find one or where I could have one made.
thanks in advance,
Andy

Then the only thing I can think of is, if you have a craft shop near you, pick up some modeling clay and some casting risin, shape what you need out of the clay, drizzle some of the casting rizin over the clay , after it sets up clean the clay out and cast one, or make the mold out of balsa and just glass it in to your cowl
Hope this make since
cheers Bob T

Well, as it turns out...........the Hanger 9 60 sized P47 has a dummy engine in the fiberglass cowl with the chin divider. I ordered the cowl and will surgically remove what I want and install it in my Fiberglass Specialties fiberglass cowl. Should work

sounds like a plan mate.
I'm hoping to get a lot done on mine over the Christmas break. I'm taking about 4 weeks off and really need the break, work has been gruelling this year and I need a good recharge.
So time in the shed, at the beach and visting a mate who has a tinny and we will do some fishing.
You you septics a tinny is a small boat, normally a 2 or 3 man size with a little putt putt outboard on them. they used to be steel but now mainly made of aluminium.
Hence we call them tinnys.
By the way we pronouce aluminium as : "al um in e umm", not "al oooo min im" oz 101

As I remember tinny was in OZ-101 way back in the thread. Any way good you have some time off coming We will get a day or 2 when our daughter come's home for Christmas and a 1 day after the new year.
Well all of the repairs are complete on the Corsair, so now it time to glass it and paint but the paint will have to wait till I have the repairs on the Weeks finished plan on making a paint booth in the car port and do both.
Cheers Bob T
