mmm naughty nurses can be fun, have had a few of those in my time.

Mind you one I'm seeing at the moment is right into the PinUp look and wears some gorgeous stuff.

Anyway back to model planes!

Yes listen now and then, they like to be listened to, nod and say yes dear! Whether you actually listen or not is moot point.

Anyway I intend to pop over to the paint place at Hemmant and get some slow thinners on Sat morning, then steal my mate Ron and his nice little finishing gravity feed spray gun to start the paining process.. That wont happen Sat but I will tee him up for it. He is good with a spray gun, better then I am and I dont want too heavy a coat for weight reasons.

Going to squirt a little silver down on areas where you would expect paint to wear off, leading eldges, access hatches, around gear doors and wells, cockpit coaming and walk areas on wing. Getting it ready for the weathering process though as I am modelling a modern refurbed version the weathering will be minimal.

Here is my scheme, I have all the masks and decals for this one.

yes tooth done under a "twighlight" sedative so a little nap then wake up and all is done. Appratly you are awake, you just do not remember it.

Had gastroscopy on friday which is just a eendoscope down the throat so they can have a look and take some happy snaps. Again a sedative is given to knock you out.

Back to see specialsit today and again on the 3/3. Ex*****ve all these medical bills, even with full health cover the out of pockets are large.

I have been watching those huge snow storms ovoer there on the news, brrrrrrr. We are mildish to warm here, humid and 2 cyclones forming up North which are the first of the season. we even had a 5.2 magnitude earthquake over the weekend about 250km from here. No real damage just residents saying "it shook the house" No **** sherlock, it's an earthquake!

Hoping to get back on the Vampire wiring tonight. Get that done then back to repairing the Cub.

Might go for a walk tonight too, getting lazy laying on couch watching downloaded TV shows and no not porn you dirty minded lot

Hope you checked that they washed the endoscope properly just in case they were multi-tasking!

Hay Pete now we can call you "toothless Pete" Naaaa it don't sound right. But glad your on the mend any way.
Hear in fly over land we are about 30 inches short on snow this season, and the farmers need the moisture, an old saying was (it is to cold to snow) and I am starting to belive it is true.

Well on to better things got more of my bits so working on the new cowl's for the weeks and the Corsair, in the past I have don my reinforcing with glass mat, and the cowls have been a bit flexable, so this time I am using C/F called 2 X 2 with a 2oz over the top seams to really help

well as one was indisposed one will never know! I do trust multitasking per se was not part of their repertoire!

Bob, was a very back molar so you wont be able to see anyway. God I would hate to look lik one of those toothless illiterates!

sounds like you are keeping out of mischief.

Where is Tom lurking these days? He is very quiet.

Might have to hurry up and finish this damn 47 as this thread is about dead anyways.

Maybe I'll franchise ".....another bloody one!" build threads hehehe

I have not heard a word from Tom in a long time when my computer took a (ah you no the word) any way I lost all of the e-mail addy;s except a few I had backed up, and his was not one of them, and he has not sent an e- mail sense, might try to PM him and see what is going on.

This c/F stuff I am trying seams to work easer than F/G mat, it sure work's corners and small radius's great, but I hear nasty things about the dust so will have to get new cans for my respirator and I may set up a quickie vac box just to be safe when I cut the wholes

G'day,
ok bugger hope all is well in his world then.

Mate all FG nd CF dust is nasty, always wear a respirator. CF fibre can be absorbed into the body if you get it stuck in the skin. Be very careful it.

That doesn't look pretty for us in Gladstone. It's times like this that I wish we had a hangar for our plane. It's tied down out on the apron. I have always said that if we look like getting a cyclone I would fly it inland and park it, but the weather here is already too bad to fly, windy & raining, I can only fly in full visual conditions

Hay Boltman

Along time ago when I lived in San Diego CA I had a cesna 140 A and we had a hurricane com ashore and it was not a good thing but the wind dropped off vary fast as it came ashore, and mine was tied down about 36 miles inland so no damage but a lot of pucker factor. Cyclone's and hurricane's are the same ? just rotate in different directions, still buggers at any rate

Good luck

Will also be whareing nylite gloves, typed cuffs and the dust mask will see how this first bit goes, if I get a lot of dust will go for a vac box to sand in.

Looks like no flying here this weekend either, bloody Queenslanders sending their excess rain down to sunny New South Wales!

If I'm not bailing out might try and sort out the motor in my 84" Yak 54, wouldn't pull full revs last time out.

Hi Bob,

Yep, Cyclone = Hurricane, just spins the other way. Latest forecast has it crossing the coast about 50-75 miles north of us, but now expected to be a category 3. After crossing it will track our way & pass inland / over us, still as a cat 1.

Our airport is only 2.5 miles from the coast and my aircraft only weighs 321kg / 706 lbs empty. I have been & put some extra tie-downs on but that is all I can do. Its very frustrating since I have been wanting to build a hangar for about 4 years now but the local government & airport management seem to forget that airports are meant for planes and keep making it harder & harder to do anything.

it is now a cat 5!!

All our ine crews are on standby to restore power etc. going to be fun.

Mick hope your plane and you guys come though ok.

Worried about my shed as I have a large storm water drain just outside the backyard and when it overflows the whole yard can go under several feet of water.

No flying for anybody by the look of it and Mary River Warbirds will be off as will Gratron field this Sunday. Was going to re-certify the P51 too.

Last I seen it almost looked as if you had two of those bad boys headed your way. "Batten down the Hatches". Stay safe and I am hoping for the best for the lot of you. The high winds and precipitation are going to suck kangaroo balls.

How did you guys do up there? Seemed from the Bureau reports that it was not as dire as predicted.
we were threatened with 300mm rain yesterday, ended up with 75.
more rain to come but the forecasts seem to be scaled down.

The cyclone ended up tracking about 60km west of us & was down to cat 3 by then. We only had 90mm of rain for the whole day and the biggest wind gust only 45 knots. I have not been to check the plane yet but as it has been through worse before i am assuming it will be fine. We were a bit worried when it crossed the coast as a cat 5 only about 140 km north of us but thankfully it weakened as it tracked inland past us.

We were battened down as much as we could be but glad to not have that tested.

Blue skies now and not much wind, looks like tomorrow will be a great day to go flying

Around Rocky, Yeppoon, Biloela they all copped it pretty bad. We have a lot of our regional depots there and they are all off getting the power back on. Hge job on the scale of Yasi from a damage to the network grid point of view.

Glad you guys came through ok Mick. Bit of a fizzer here in Brisbane, constant rain but not a deluge. She has many leaks and some stock got wet but all the planes are ok. Almost went for a fly Sunday with the foamie but wind came out.

Yard is like a jungle and it will get the charge of the Victa Brigade once it dries out a bit.

No real modelling, been down in the dumps. Lady I had been seeing for quite some times did a deer in the headlights and called it off. Women, seriously when will I learn?

Anyway will drag my sorry arse back to the shed during the week and get back into it.

Well back in the day from 18 t0 30 I had similar problems Then met the wife now been 53 years of hell, (just kidding) So maybe there is hope for you yet.

Well I have all of the repairs done, still waiting for a warm up so I can paint, Got all of the C/F in the weeks cowl and in the process of fitting it to the fuse, just one lite layer and that made it really stiff, can't cut any holes till I can remount the engine.

That about it from Fly over land

Cheers Bob T

P.S. Glad you all came thru the storms ok.

Don't think so Bob, I'm 54 now and too set in my ways. I seem to last a short time with them then it fizzles out. I'll have some fun with it instead but not try and look at long term. Just does not work for me.

Good progress there bob.

I'm going to give wing and fuz a bit of a wash so it is clean then look at what areas I need to lay down some silver on before top coats go on. Prep for weathering.

Weathering will be minimal as the one I'm modelling is a restored bird and is quite clean and tidy.

Still need to get back to the Vampire and finish the wiring, only a couple of hours work.

Poor old cub still waiting too.
