can understand wanting to use what you have Z. I do the same.

MyG62 was originally in the Seafury but at 42lbs it did not have enought grunt so out it came and I fitted a GT-80 twin which is perfect for it.

G62 is now going into the spit. I have put the carby bend and converted it to CDI igntion and it goes quite well though still not run in properly.

Weather has gone to pooh here, raining and prediction is more of the same over the weekend. Bahhh

Tom's local winery is in his garage I bet hehehe

Well done Chris,
that looks very nice.

Have been working away on mine on and off over the long weekend. Had to give everything a good clean down, fix a little bit of hanger rash. But have applied the silver undercover to the areas I need it for detailing. Borrowed a very nice gravity feed finishing gun from a mate and it works a lot better then my cheap one.

Have to get some more thinners and will get a 4 L can tomorrow from the auto place. Found the paints on my shelf that I will be using, RAF light sea grey, RAF dark sea grey and RAF dark green. There are a couple of dark greens, the one I'm using is like an olive colour.

Need to get some insignia red, yellow, blue and some white. Probably just some testors for those colours.

Anyway it's progress!!

Tomorrow I'll be applying the light grey to the undersides and might be able to start the dark grey top surfaces with some luck.

cheers

CRJDriver, Those matching P-47's look great. I was fortunate enough to fly a matching pair at a comp last year, Rough & Ready is mine and Slick Chick was a team entry with her owner.

we even had T-Shirts made up for my caller & pit crew.

Cheers!

Hey Pete,

Good to hear you are making some progress on your Jug.

I will be at Tingalpa for the Nationals in Large Scale & Sport Scale from this Saturday through to Wednesday. If you get a chance drop by and say Hi, be good to catch up.

Mick will do, I'm not flying though.

Weather has prevented further painting progress. Bought some more thinners this morning from Supercheap but humidity ranged from 89% to 60% all day so far too humid. When I did a bit a painting the other day with the silver even with retarder in the mix I was still get a little blooming occurring. Not going to risk it with the top coats.

Weather forecast for next weekend is more bloody rain

Bob, no target date mate. I tend not to set milestone dates as I deal with that so much at work! It will happen when it happens. I ordered the Testors paints I need to finish the job today.

Anyway I'm pleased to be back on it.

Cheers
P

Had a molar extracted surgically under sedation last night which means can't go to work as the sedative was an opiate.

So had arrest in the morning then this arvo did some more painting on the P47.

Bottom of wing, bottom of ailerons, flaps, retract doors and bottom half of the cowl have all been sprayed with RAF light sea grey.

If weather is nice over the weekend then I will do the bottom of the fuz and start on the RAF dark grey upper surfaces.

Some photos to keep Bob happy

Nice. You'll have that done before you know it. I found that the painting was the biggest self motivating stage. You can see the progress and you also want to see what the finished product will look like.

Looking good, and like old Tom said you will have it done in no time. Boy now I don't feel bad with having a cluttered shop.

Weather hear is still in the dumper but have managed to squirt primer between storms, and weather guys are saying warmer next week so maybe I will get to do some color

thanks guys, getting there...

As for the radar pic that was in the shed when I moved in so I will happily deny all knowledge!

More progress today.

Finished applying the light grey under the fuz

Have completed all the dark grey upper surfaces. Now it does have quite a blue hue to it but that is the correct shade for RAF Dark Sea Grey.

Once the green camo goes over it will look different.

Paint on the 47!!!!! never thought we'd see the day.

Gonna have to bust a bottle of the champers on her when she's done to honor the monumental effort!

Thanks

Dave,
Might need to pick your brain on how to do a little bit of subtle weathering, just enough to bring the panel lines and rivets into a bit of relief. This is modelled on a restored P47 so it is quite pristine.

cheers

Will see how I feel over the weekend, will do wing camo if I'm well enough.

Mick sorry mate did not get out to TMAC over the weekend, hope to catch up at one of the SCAF events shortly if I can get a warbird ready.

cheers
