Hey Pete,

Hope they get you sorted & soon.

No worries on not catching up. We had 5 days of great weather & lots of fun. Had 12 flights with my Jug & never laid a screwdriver or spanner on the plane. Was really good to catch up with Ron C. I managed 4th in Large Scale behind a Comp ARF P-47 and 2 jets. I was only 10 points behind 2nd place and the jets get 36 points per flight more than I do for sound. In Sports scale I came second to an Extra 260 and beat one of the jets back into third.

Maybe catch up at Tin Can Bay warbirds?

Mick

thanks guys, stomach hernia that turned out to be worse than first though plus a top stomach valve correction. So have 5 incisions in me now. Slowly getting well again, was more painful than I had thought it would be.

Getting bored laying on the couch I can tell you!!

Mick yes mate Ron picked my up from the hospital and he said you had come 2nd so well done. Might have a word with you about those corsairs at some stage too.

Cheers

Pete
Glad to hear you are healing, and not as serious as it might have been.

Slowly getting there mate. Has taken more out of me than I thought it would.

Got into the shed for a short time yesterday. Marked out the cowl for the green but that was it.
Ron C came over to see how I was and we had s coffee and a yak. Watched some of the omaka airship on YouTube via my Apple TV streamed through the flat screen.

Hopefully by end of the week I'll be back on deck.

Cheers
Peter.

Peter,

Sounds like you are on the mend. Wishing the best for you. I have had a similar procedure before. Worst thing was Laughing, Coughing and sitting on the Toilet. Never all three at the same time mind you because I think that would have been fatal. Get Well soon.

Hopefully you still have a good stash of aeroporn to keep you entertained while your outta action...

Did you remember to hit Ron C up for those R/X's $$, or was it all just talking about sheep?

I can only think that this time you've had laid up had come to some good..... Pete was asking me about some weathering tips for the 47 on the phone the other day. Finally cracked that nugget!

Thanks

Z,
mate getting there. Sudden movemetns like rolling while being on the couch are the worse and I nearly ripped something loose like that the other night, very ouch!

Back in the office today and catching up on things.

Dave, lots of aeroporn via youtube streamed through the apple TV. Ron was so impressed with that gadget we went to tricky dickies and he bought one. 10 mins spent configuring it for him and he is now enjoying youtube aeroporn and ABC doccos streamed from his iPad.

Mind you he managed to stuff it up last night, got a text then a phone call "help, it isnt working"

So me being the smart ar#@ "yes hello, this is technical support, do you have your credit card details ready?"

Turns out he had the TV set to HDMI3 instead of HDMI2 !!

I queried him about those Rxrs you are after Dave, he will get back to me once he has pricing for you.

Will be back to squirting paint on Saturday.

ANZAC day this Saturday, 100 years since they stormed ashore at Galipoili and forged a legend. I'll be marching through Brisbane as part of the ex RAAF contingent. Was hoping my ADF service medal might have arrived in time, oh well.

cheers

No progress this weekend just gone. We had ANZAC day on say so went to the dawn service at the local RSL sub branch. Huge crowd for that being the 100 year anniversay.

Then marched through Brisbane with all of the troops and ex servicemen/women. Very big parade this year and was a very emotional day. My first ANZAC day march since I discharged from the RAAF back in 1999.

Sunday blew a gale all day so no flying or painting, far too gusty to even try.

I did a small amount of work on P51 tail wheel steering cable problem, will have to cut a small access hatch under the port stab to gain access. Otherside has one already but cable broke on opposite side of course.

cheers

Hi Pete
Had read a book about your ANZAC day Quite a history and I think it is similar to our veterans day or 4 of July/

Glad you had a good time any way.

When I have broke those cables I have found it is easer to just replace the hole thing, But that is just me

yes Bob I think it is like your Veterans day.

The main cables from servo tiller arm to the main rear tiller are intact, it is just one of the short ones that goes from the rear tiller to the retract itself that broke.

cheers

Oz,

We had a couple of good ANZAC stories by the Associated Press and the likes. I looked for you in the pics but no joy. Sounds like an outstanding parade and march. Glad you could participate and good on ya.

Cheers,

Z,
yes mate it was a bloody good march. We had a few tossers from the leftist media have a go at some of the vets, one got sacked. Not a group you want to start bagging out. Especilly to their faces, mind you the lefty media types would be too gutless to say anything face to face. Especailly to any SAS types!

I havent seen any pictures of myself in it either but that isnt why I did it. Just my way of saying I gave the nation of a blank check with my name and life on it. The nation has given me a very good life, sans a few made females heeh, my way of saying I am proud to have served my nation in a small way.

cheers

Gday Dave,
yes mate he came over for a coffee after I had come out of hospital. We put youtube up on my flatscreen via the Apple TV. Some good footage.

Now let me guess you want to build a big doodlebug!

Given the wet weather I doubt there will be any painting on the P47 this weekend but hoping to get work done on my retract issues on the P51.

Hoping it is fine on Sunday so I can get out for a fly.

cheers

Hey Pete, good to hear you are on the mend.

Currently at Tin Can Bay for their warbirds rally. After the disasterous weather yesterday today turned out great. A pretty good turn out but maybe down a little as the weather scared a few off. Too many cubs, I think I counted 10 at one stage & some not even in military colours. Only WWII heavy metal was my Jug and a 50cc plastic Corsair.

Managed 3 good flights with my P-47 but was not until the last that I scored a break in the traffic to get some space to throw the Jug around the way I love to.

Any chance you will make it up to Bundy for their warbirds next month?

G'day Mick,

I heard there was a little carnage up there, Garle's idot son put a PT-19 into the deck after ripping the wing lugs out trying to do snap rolls. What a moron!

Shame no heavey metal apart from yourself.

If you get those Corsairs to a going concern let me know, keen on one.

Dunno about Bundy yet. Mustang needs to be recertified and I need some stick time on it. I fixed the cable on the tal retract on Sat and found the issue on the main retract that was binding. Cam forks had bent closed a little causiong it to jam on the cam. Hey that rhymes!

Anyway I just need to adjust the speed of retraction cycles a bit as it is too fast at present then I can test fly it.

No progress on painting of the P47. With that huge deluge of rain in Brisbane it was far too humid. Shed has a few leaks in it from the old screws as the rubber grommets on the screws has perished with age. Keep meaning to get up there and either put goop over them or replace the screws. Only a rental so not inclined to do too much.

So if I can get mustang ready I might make it up there.

cheers
P

yes mum!!

Getting the P51 ready again and once weather is nice I'll be back painting the P47.

Some of the programming on our radios is not that easy and I am trained in that sort of things.

I thought you had your fleet ready to go? Get them sorted and go fly!

I was flying when the PT-19 & it's wing parted company. It was actually just doing a barrell roll and as soon as it got to inverted the wing just gently flew away from the fuse. Looking at wing it was just a classic dodgy ARF thing. The wing had 2 dowels at the front but they were not glued in place and just workrd their way backwards into the wing and out of the former in the fuse.

Pete I will definitely keep you posted on the Corsair. It will be a while yet, Richard is still finishing the molds. To do a full composite Corsair takes 38 individual molds!!! Once that is done we will both get one flying each and get some flying in and confirm the design is good before I sell any. In the mean time I will be doing some P-47 kits to sell. Don't know if you have followed Richard & Patsy's new facebook page - "RAP Fun Factory". They started this to post their modelling stuff and not load up the Bundy club page with too much of their own stuff.

Cheers!

Bob, get into the radio section and ask them how to do it. Or google it!! I'm not familiar with Futaba programming, use JR but it should be straight forward enough. When in doubt read the bloody book!
