Default Fess' me? I guess so, I will

First off, sorry to see that happen to your P51 Ed. Knowing you, you will be back the next day with it ready to go again...

Second, Debbie is a great flyer... we all can learn from her...

I thought my trusty old FW190D9 will be as typical as any day but also had lots of problems.

Flew first flight okay, not a problem there, I even shot down Ray's P40 (which had to land early due to engine failure... Sorry Ray... ). We did however had an excellent 10 minutes of combat.

Second flight, stupid me forget we were in the desert, high altitude and also getting warm, I flew it for about 6 minutes and handed the stick to one of my buddies and 3 passes later engine started to lean out (overheating) just got the stick back, engine already dead and lucky had enough time to put the gears down and level the wing... the dry lake bed was still a bit soft and on the landing pulled one of my main wheel off. After putting it all back together and cleaning out the dust... I could not get the engine to run again!!!! UGH!

So I made my announcement.... 'My FW190D9 is now retired!'. She is now a big static hanger queen, now time for my FW190 A 6...

Default my first baby

This is the first warplane I built. I know its a bit small compared to the others on this page, but... It is a Hien(Tony to those of you on the other side of the ocean) powered by a YS53 four-stroke. Fully planked and glassed, painted with 2-part car paint. Unfortunately, I lost it due to stupidity one day. Want to build a bigger one from Don Smith plans when I get back to the states.

Tim

PS. Dean, your A-10s still look great. I saw the maiden flight of the gray one at Superman. I was with the Japanese group flying the AD Rafale Twin and the beautiful Bandit. Maybe I'll see you again this year.

Default Big Bird

Hi Guy's. Some real nice birds here! Just thought I'd try to post one of my fav's. A FW. Ta.-151H from a modified Meister Scale FW.-190D built by Ty Brown of Kannapolis, N.C. It's is powered by a Quadra 75. This past year I've finally had the time and $ to pursue my love of big warbirds. I hope to be attending some of the events and fly-ins on the East coast this year, and to get the chance to meet some of you in person.
Happy flying,
Rob Bailey / Pickupsticks

PS. Pat...I'm another Luft. guy! Just ordered a 109 from you...can't wait to get it!

Shindin,

Thanks for the compliment. What's it like building the Don Smith Hien? Did you cut the parts or have a kit cutter do it? I was thinking of having All American Kit Cutters do it. Anybody used them before?

By the way, I am still in Japan and have access to a couple of pretty good picture books on the plane. You won't be able to read them but, if you want some paint scheme ideas, let me know. I can send you the books. Let me know before March.

Default 1/4 P-51

Mike,

I aquired the unfinished plane from a friend and was told it is a Wescraft kit. I understand that there is also a Wescraft B-17 kit out there somewhere. I dont know if they are still marketed or not.

I wound up with three fiberglas fuselages and one set of wing and tail parts. I also bought Quarter Scale plans from Don Smith Plans. There are kit cutters around that sell his kits.

It's definitly a Monster that I didn't handle very well on my first attempt. I plan to try again this Saturday.

Hi Guy's, Thought I'd post a couple of my Meister Zero, A6M3 Model 22 also. This beauty was also built by Ty Brown, and flies on a Quadra 75.
Happy flying,

Default Jug

Hmmm...there are some really excellent airplanes pictured here! I've noticed something a bit unusual though...I only see one
P-47, in a post by Shinden. So...just thought I give the Jug another representative...still can't understand why I don't see more pics ofthem here...they are one of the best flying warbirds around in my NSHO!!! Anyway, this is my Nosen P-47 'No Gut's No Glory'. She flies so sweet with a Brison 5.8!!! She's seen better days cosmetically, but I still love her!
Happy flying,
Rob

Default P-47's

And who say's size doesn't matter? :-) Seriously, I've always loved big warbirds, and now that I finally have both the $$ and time to enjoy them, I'm going at it whole hog! I have a Meister P-47 that should be finished around April...I hope! It's a razorback and is being built by my friend Fred Menna in Rhode Island...Fred is a great builder and I know this is going to be one sweet airplane! I'll definitely post some pics when she's ready to go!
Happy flying,
Rob

Default Me-262

Hey Guy's, As promised, here are a couple of pics of my new toy!!! A one off, 105" wingspan, Me-262...flies on 2 OS 91's...and flies like a dream! This bird was scratch built by Joe Saitta of Seminole, Florida. Joe also kits a real nice Me-163 Komet...in 80" and 105" wingspans. I'll post a pic of my 163 in a day or so.
I love these big Luft. warbirds.
Happy flying,
Rob

PICKUPSTICKS,

That's a beautiful 262. Does the builder kit that one, too? I wonder how it would fly with a couple of RAM 500s on it? How much does it weigh? Looks great!

Default Me-262

Exocet, Thanks, it is a way cool airplane in my book! I know that Joe was talking about kitting it, but I think he's been stalled a bit of late? I don't think it would hurt for you to email him...it may give that added incentive! This is the 3rd airplane that I have now that Joe has built. My Me-163 Komet, Me-262, and a Meister FW-190D...Joe is a very talented builder and really excells at the 'not so common' stuff. I'm trying to get him to build me a big B & V P-208...now that would be a super interesting and unusual giant scale subject! Joe's email address is:
[email protected]
I've posted one pic of my Me-163 here and I'll make one more post with another pic!
Happy flying,
Rob

Exocet, Sorry, I forgot to answer your other questions. I'm not certain of the weight, but it isn't all that heavy...maybe about 18 lbs.? When I was in Fla to pick it up, Joe also said that it would be fantastic with a couple of RAM 500's! I'm not into DF's or turbines, but I would love to see Joe do another one with the twin turbines...that would be awesome!
