Anyone going to Bomber Field in late Sept?
I hope to be there taking pictures for rcwarbirds.com and would like to meet you guys that contribute to these great warbird forums.
Post here if your going and maybe we can all meet each other off-line at this premier warbird event.

Paul, I'll be there but not sure whether I'll bring the big PT-19 or Z Corsair or both.
Suggestion: Paul, you could make up a sign something like: "RC Universe Warbird Forum Meeting Place". That way we could see someone close to the sign and introduce ourselves.

Bayou Boys at Bomber Field
Paul,
We'll be there and look forward to meeting you. I'll be with L454S, Lenny, and all the rest of the guys from the New Orleans Model Aviation Club. Look for us on Wednesday with a whole stable full of warbirds. We should have 3 Bearcats, 5 Spitfires, 1 B-25 Mitchell, 1 Sea Fury, 3 Thunderbolts, 2 Mustangs, 1 AT-6 Texan, 1 DeHavilland Mosquito, and 1 Corsair. God, when I look at that list, I think I'd better buy a bigger trailer. My problem this year will be deciding which warbird to leave at home.

You can bet the Lone Ranger from Laredo will be there. With or without the damn bearcat
The spitfire, mustang and stuka will make the trip. I better call B.B. and tell him to let the fence down for Bill.

Of Bearcats and Fences
Evan, that was cruel. I'm still having nightmares of my buddies airplane being strained through that barbed wire fence. We have had a few mishaps with those Bearcats and the fact of the matter is that they are one of the easiest flying warbirds we have ever piloted. I guess that was a perfect example of not being able to stand the prosperity. The wing is back on mine and the repairs are done to Damon's. All that's left to do is some paint work. I'll test fly mine early next week and Lord willing, we should have the three of them up at Bomber Field. Try to get yours done. It didn't seem like you had that much more to do when I saw the pictures on your web site.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again this year at Bomber Field and rest assured, I'll be aware of any fences in the area.
Later,
Krum

Hi Evan...been talking about making it down there for 10 years now....figured I should shut up and do it, so I am coming. Be nice to meet all you guys. The Clarke Spit is getting panel lines applied to the wing now. All built, just prepping for paint. MAy not fly this year, but easily will fly next year.

Sorry Krum, couldnt resist. I talked to Lenny today and it sounds like the repairs are almost done. Hope to see you all there. As for mine, im still trying to finish it. If I get the paint work

Hi,
The 140" rule means that in order to fly a jet at an IMMA meet with a wingspan less than 80" the combined wingspan and length must be 140" or larger. Obviously, if the jet has an 80" or greater wingspan it can fly at the event. The rule was instituted because many jets have relatively short wings and to meet the 80" wingspan rule the jets would be huge.

140" rule
As posted above, it applies to jet models, where the wingspan and the fuselage together must total 140 inches.
I don't know what you mean by older warbirds, but the rest of us that fly models of propeller driven aircraft must comply with the 80" rule, meaning our aircraft must have an 80" span or better in order to legally fly at the event.
I hope that clears it up for you.

140 Rule
The 140 rule refers to a "legal big bird jet as defined by the IMAA". It's length plus wingspan must equal 140" or greater.
The jet does not have to have an 80" wingspan, just meet the conditions above. A good example of this would be the old Byron F-15.

Thanks a bunch guys. You cleared it up for me! I should have read the rules, but -- oh well.. By older warbirds, I meant prop jobs and not jet aircraft. I was running a tad short of time this morning. Would rather have stayed home today and worked on planes and red more of this forum!
