scale bomb dimensions
Can anyone point me to a source for the dimensions and outlines for US general purpose bombs during WW2, Korea ( I think they are the same) and Viet Nam?
I'm specifically interested in the shape and dimensions for the 250 and 500 pound WW2 US General Purpose bombs and the 250, 500, 750 and 1000 pound low drag general purpose bombs used in Viet Nam?
I'd like the dimensions so I could try my hand and turning them and molding some for a couple upcoming projects.
Thanks
Chris

RE: scale bomb dimensions
Great drawings Luke.
Would it be too much to ask for if you also have drawings on the 1000 pound also?
And what is the length of the bomb?
Cheers

RE: scale bomb dimensions
A few more for you. I can't imagine the sizes of post ww2 bombs of the same weight would be different in size.
The Mark 82 (Mk82) is a 500lb. nonguided general purpose bomb (a dumb bomb).
MK-82
Primary Function: 500 pound (230 kg) free-fall, general purpose bomb - blast and fragmentation
Length: 2.21 m
Diameter: 10.75 in (273 mm)
Range: Varies by method of employment
The Mk82 series was developed in the 1950s, in response to the US Air Force's want of a more aerodynamic bomb. In that way, it is known as an LDGB (Low Drag General Purpose Bomb). It was used to great effect mainly in the Persian Gulf War.
MK-83
Primary Function: 1,000 pound (450 kg) free-fall, general purpose bomb
Length: 9 ft 10 in (3.0 m)
Diameter: 14 in (356 mm)
MK-84
Primary Function: 2,000 pound (900 kg) free-fall, general purpose bomb
Length: 10 ft 9 in (3.3 m)
Diameter: 18 in (457 mm

I think your dimensions are for bombs in use after WWII, so called low drag bombs. This is the same type of bombs that are in use today, also with guidance especially on 2000 pound version (JDAM)
The WWII bombs were more short and thick than the new ones. (As seen on dionysusbacchus drawings)
New bombs

Old bombs (replica)
