Have you all have seen the other thread "favorite hobby shop and why"? My new vote is now for gunnys shop - but dang, it's a loooong drive!

LOL! Hopefully I'll get to that point in a few(dozen) years.

Guilty! It's the only nice tool I own! I was a bench jeweler for twenty years. A Foredam is a necessity, not a luxury.

The pity party is because I am standing OUTSIDE the shop to make the pictures. First action of my modeling day is to remove enough to get all the way in. 120" X 96". Three giant scale planes 80-90" wingspans(can you say hangar rash?), and one Sig Kobra plus bench, plus all tools, woods, and flight supplies. It's a Mad Mad World.

ORIGINAL: the-plumber

Pity you ?

With what appears to a Foredom hanging right there in plain sight ?

NOT !

You nailed it Artin. That is why I never bought a Dremel as an adult. Got one from Santa when I was a kid. I gave it away after getting my first Foredam.

Thanks cwrr5 and TankHunter, I started out too with only a 4 X 8 space. That was 20 years ago. My father said he created a monster.

But at least it's all neat and organized.

Awright, here goes nuttin' . . .

The House Of Balsa Dust shop, and the logo over the double entry doors.

The shop is 10'x10'x18', and I could fill up one twice that size and still not have enough room.

Come to think of it, I'm not sure there is such a thing as enough hobby room.

Anywell, more later.

The House Of Balsa Dust, Round 2 . . .

Looking into the shop from the right hand door.

Right side of the shop has all the power tools toward the front, with storage at the rear.

Left side of the shop has the 36" x 8' 5/8" marine ply main workbench, with storage at the front (out of view behind the left door) and rear.

Rear of the shop has um . . more storage.

The 1/3 scale L-4 is sitting on the torsion box building table. waiting for me to get it covered and painted.

The shop is 10'x10'x18' because 1) that's all the yard SHE would part with and 2) it's the only flat part of the back yard not occupied by 2' diameter oak and maple trees.

It's _WAY_ too jammed in there, and model work came to a standstill while I was getting the 7'X16' model hauler trailer painted along with prepping the E-350 van to haul model stuff as well.

Plan to have the L-4 in the trailer by the end of the year, followed by a 33% Extra 230 which only needs paint.

_then_ I can start making messes of the three Ziroli kits which have been waiting way too long for a shot at the building table.

It's home, when I'm not dealing with boring stuff like work and honeydos.

Well I've never learned to post pictures here. But my wife told me when I was done decorating all her rooms in the house that I could decorate anyway I wanted to in the living room (the only one left). Can you imagine my wifes face when she came home from work and saw two planes hanging from the center beam and another seven planes mounted on the walls in various places? Needless to say she wont make that mistake again. And I still have to get permission to use my workshop, the dining room table.

Cruz,
Wrong priorities. I have a 3 car garage and use 2 bays for RC. Now if I can just get my wifes 68' mustang convertable out of the garage, I'll be set. Raised in Texas, never had much use for a convertable.

If that's a concrete floor, you might want to snag a "stress mat" - heavy foam rubber jobbie you stand on all day without your feet raising a fuss.

Have you noticed that sometimes planes just sprout on every place of your shop?

You are building a scale warbird and a trainer is born at the same time.

I think they reproduce themselves on winter.

Edwin, if I keep up my pace, I'll probably have to do the same as you and expand into another bay.

Plumber, yes it's concrete. Thanks for the link, I'll have to look into something like that.
