Default New Me109 kit

Well Guys there is finally a large kit of the Me109 on the market. This kit is put out by Pat
McCurry of PCM models in Florida www.flypcm.com
I just recieved my kit yesterday and the contents are first rate. The fiberglass work is excellent, being gel coated epoxy resin. I cant find a single pinhole in the entire fuselage. The wings are foam/balsa with carbon fiber capped full length spars. They are also detachable in 2 pieces from the fuselage and the landing gear stays mounted to the fuse just like the real Me109. I will be documenting the construction on my webpage so stay tuned!
Cheers,
Evan Q.

Nice Kit.

But that is not fair, you do not have as much wood to sand down

Hey Evan, the '109 looks like a great kit. Now that you have it you probably don't need that Byron Corsair anymore, right? Just send it to me and I'll make an F2G out of it! Looking forward to the build along on the '109, I'm sure it will be beautiful when it's done. Stay in touch, Chad.

Hi Evan,

Your post is a complete copy of what i would have written. Got my kit two weeks ago and it is everything you say

I think i will go for the 3W 75 in mine. What are you planning on powering it with?

BTW. Go for the scale gear option. They are incredible.

That is one beautiful kit. I have a couple of Byron kits waiting for my attention. I did look at them last week :-)

Hey Simjet, I did order the scale gear for mine, but SOMEBODY got the first set( I wonder who?)
Pat said that my gear should get here pretty soon anyway. My engine choices right now are a 3w75,
ZDZ80 or a taurus 5.8. Still deliberating that one
Cheers,

Default ohhhh 109.....

Evo,
man, you making it tough on me arent you. I can hardly wait to see how you dress it up. I am sure you will do quite a nice job. I have become very comfortable with the 5.8 powerplants. Plenty of umph.

Pat, you are to be commended for putting out such a wonderful aircraft. Now to find something to pawn, so that I can build one for Scale Masters.

There will be 2 that look like that. I have that picture on the wall in my garage now! I got it from a website called 12 oclock high. Also check out www.bf109.com and link to 12 oclock high. Mine is going to be plane #2 in the Squadron as opposed to the chevron for flight leaders. Also, that pic shows a late canopy usually seen on G models. Mine has the early canopy of the F version. Evan, is this a late F or an early G model, the rudder is the early type like an F model.

Default BF-109

I'm not as knowledgable about the 109 as I am about the 190, but the picture looks to be a G model. The fixed tailwheel and bulges for the machine guns on the fuse in front of the cockpit lead me to believe it.

Default canopy

Lenny, My profile is of a G6 version. The canopy is called an "Earla Haube". It was substituted in the middle of the G6 production run, however some later model Gs and even Ks had the early framed version. Go to this site to see lots of color profiles of 109s.

Go into 'User CP' at the top of the page and click on 'Edit Options'. Then scroll to the bottom and look for the Avatar feature. You can upload a picture from your PC but it must be no bigger than 100x100 pixels.

There is also more information over in the 'Problems, Questions Using RC Universe?' forum.

Hope this helps.

BTW Evan I love your website and the work you do on your planes.

Default New Me109 kit

Thats a great scheme for your Bf109G6!

And that kit looks amazing. I love the scale landing gear setup, no more widened out 109 gear!

Im a newbie to RC so something like this way out of my league for quite some time, but Im curious if there are any smaller .40-.60 size RC 109s that are more or less scale looking?

Default .40-60 BF 109

Filip

I have a epoxy composite 109F-G 50" span.

It has epoxy glass fuse, and one piece epoxy glass wing,
alum spinner, all scoops made of glass. All details in molded in.
No rivits, saving that energy for a 80"109G6 in the same type of construction.

will be getting a digital camera in a few days. If I figure out how to put pic here I will put one. It is in raw epoxy color right now so you can see the construction. I have molds for it. So if it flys well maybe you would like one??

109FG 50"
.46
6.75lbs with retracts and flaps

Default 1:6 and 1:5 Scale Me 109

Anyone interested in smaller scale Me 109s should check out http://www.wega-sunshine.de/. Their 1:5 scale goes for about 355.50 Euros which should roughly translate to $355 depending on the exchange rate. I purchased their 1/5 scale Komet and can say that the glass work is exceptionally good, rivets and panel lines are molded in the fuselage. They also make two versions of FW 190 A 6 and D9 as well as Spitfire, p51, Corsair etc... The site is in German but if you click on "Unser Katalog" and then "Modellbausätze" followed by "Militärmodelle" you'll be able to see all the kits offered.

Default New Me109 kit

Mr. Wolf

Are the glass fuses epoxy or polyester. And are the wings foam.

Also, I would guess the shipping must be up costly

Thanks

Default German Kits??

Wolf:

Thanks for the link into those German kits. I just finished a 190D done up in Red 13 like the one advertised.

Now all I need is a German translator. Does anyone there speak/read English. I'd like to learn more about their offerings.
