Dear All
I am pleased to report that we will be receiving a flypast
by a Tornado GR4 from II SQN. (AC) which is based at RAF Marham Norfolk,
pending serviceability and weather.
The Tornado will perform it's flypast running in from the southeast,
at a height of 250 feet a speed of 470 knots ( 534 MPH ) and with the wings fully swept.
Then it is heading off to RIAT.
Maurice Hammond will be airborne on Friday afternoon in one of his Mustangs,
he is hoping he will be able to give us a flypast.
Am I happy you bet.
There are still places available for spectators and participants.
Regards Phil G.

Dear All
As always on this most difficult of days, our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
A day that changed the World for ever, I don't think anyone will forget the images shown
on tv that day and the courage shown by so called ordinary people and the Police and rescue services.
The land of the free and the home of the brave.
From your friends in the UK.
Regards Phil G.

So is the "Mossie" considered a fighter? I know it was pretty versatile
http://youtu.be/EXU3nG1QZ-k Or should I be sure to post this since I know a P-51 is a WWII fighter

You're a man after my own heart Lawrence! Gorgeous Hellcat for sure. One question for you. How do you keep all the little ancillary parts of the drop tank from breaking off every time you drop it? That is the one thing that has kept me from making an operable tank drop on my Hellcats.

GBlyndon,
Thanks for posting your excellent video's here.
The Mossie was a very versatile aircraft, there is a campaign going on here in the UK
to raise money to fund a project for an airworthy Mossie for the UK.
You might want to read about the amiens (France) prison break raid and the shell house (Denmark) raid.
Both raids were Mossie raids at very low level.
If you have already read about them, you will know how good the crews and the aircraft were.
Regards Phil G.

Prop wash, I'm not an expert by any means but the P80 was used till the F86 could be put up in numbers. When the P51 was initiated to Korea, it could only be matched to the Russian prop fighters the North had at the time all other sorties were ground related. When the Mig was introduced the P80 was not a match as well as the Panthers or Cougars, that was when the call was made for the F86. The F86 was still not up to the Mig as the Mig was faster but the F86 could turn inside the Mig. There were over 700 Mig's shot down to about 80 Sabres, and was the tactics developed that put the advantage to the USA pilots. Not trying to be a know it all, not by any means am I, just thought I would share with you some information I have learned over the number of years I've been able to soak up !! Cheers

Dear All
Here are some pictures from the recent Battle of Britain / Kassel mission model commemorative event.
If you are interested in the Kassel mission I will provide a link to an excellent website.
A brief description of the Kassel mission regarding the the 35 B24's from the 445h BG from Tibenham airfield Norfolk UK.
There were originally 39 B24's from Tibenham due to take part in the mission.
One damaged it's tyres while taxiing three others had either damage engine problems or illness and had to abort.
That left 35 aircraft, the target was the Henchell motor works at Kassel in central Germany.
The lead navigator made a navigational error close to the target, the Tibenham aircraft drifted to the left of the main
bomber stream. This error was quickly realised, it was too late to get back on course so it was decided to attack
the secondary target which was a city called Gottingen.
The B24's were left with no fighter cover and were immediately set upon by over 100 Luftwaffe fighters.
In the ensuing carnage 20 B24's were shot down in five minutes.
Of the 35 aircraft only 4 made it back to Tibenham.
Over 100 aircrew were killed and something like 120 taken prisoner.
If you would like to read a full account of this mission here is the website link.
www.kasselmission.com
We held our event on Friday the 26th of September.
The following day the 27th of September was the 70th anniversary of the Kassel mission (27th of September 1944 - 27th of September 2014)
So it was only right that we remembered those who took part in this mission,
we also remembered those who took part in the Battle of Britain.
We always hold a one minute silence for the fallen from all sides.
Our remembrance ceremony was a bit more formal this year.
We had members of the Spirit of Coltishall Association representing the RAF side of things.
The honour guard from the 48th tactical fighter wing RAF Lakenheath. (USAF)
We had a German modeller attend who represented the German side of things and translated to German.
Henning Wehn German comedian
A lone Piper, Bugler and a Spitfire flypast.
We really did have a great day.
We here in the UK are eternally grateful for the sacrifices that were made on our behalf
by United States military personnel during WW2 and to this day. A debt of gratitude that we can never ever repay.
Regards Phil G.

Brian,
Thank you very much. I am glad you like the pictures.
It really was a good day. We always have a remembrance ceremony, which is absolutely right in my opinion.
But we also have fun flying our models, enjoying the freedom those boys fought so hard for.
We were at Tibenham the Friday before this event and there was an American couple there.
The chaps uncle flew a B24 from Tibenham during WW2, unfortunately he was shot down over Holland on his second mission.
The name of the aircraft was snow goose. The couple had been to Holland to see where the B24 came down.
There was a person who was a child at the time who saw the B24 come down and gave them a description of what had happened.
I believe the chaps uncle perished in the crash. I have just found out that the entire crew were killed.
A very interesting story but also a very sad one. Lest we forget.
Regards Phil G.

Dear All
Here are some pictures of two 1/4 scale BP Deviants that are being
built for my good friend Dickie S.
They are being built from highly modified Mike Booth plans.
The Defiant is very undermodelled here in the UK.

Dear Dave
Lovely to hear from you, yes all being well they will be at one of my events, the Bob would be the
most appropriate one. If you have my email can you contact me please as I have something
you might be interested in.
Andy as for dragging your plan out, you need to drag yourself out mate.
A day down Norfolk would do you the world of good, particularly in July or September.
Sheriff, the Typhoon looks very nice indeed. Thank you for posting it here.
