Dear All
I have just arrived back from Tibenham everything is all set.
i spoke with the Red Arrows they are on for a 11:07am flypast.

My good friend Dave R. (drzidli) is on his way down from Yorkshire this evening
he is staying in a guest house eight miles from Tibenham.
So he should be about bright and early tomorrow.

The weather forecast looks good, I can do no more
let's hope we have a good day.

Regards Phil G.

Dear All
Just under three weeks to go now until this event.

I received a nice photo from Mudders this aftenoon
of the progress of his Spitfire. I think you might agree it
looks very nice indeed. You can never have too many Spitfires.
I feel a Spitfire only slot coming on.

The Spirit of Coltishall Association will be conducting the remembrance ceremony
to make it a bit more formal. All being well we will have a trumpeter, a lone piper
and the honour guard as we did last year.
A Spitfire will perform three flypasts. The Spitfire is courtesy of the BBMF.

Henning Wehn, the German comedy ambassador to the UK has also been invited.
I have not received word yet to confirm that he will be attending.

As an aside it is just two weeks to go until the superb Osbournby event.

Regards Phil G.

To our American friends,
our thoughts and prayers are with you all on this most difficult of days.

A day that will live in infamy, However the bravery shown by everyone on that day was quite remarkable.

Best wishes from your friends in the United Kingdom.

Battle of Britain commemorative model event Tibenham airfield NR16 1NT
Friday the 25th of September 2015

Dear All
Things are starting to ramp up.
Mudders has sent me two more pictures of his superb Spitfire.

The German comedy ambassador to the UK Henning Wehn
is hoping to be able to attend.

Jon N. our German modelling friend is considering a blitz visit.
to attend this event plus see a Henning Wehn performance in Norwich
on the Saturday evening.

Dave Johnson and Paul Needham have this evening confirmed their attendance.
Both will be arriving Thursday evening.

Paul is bringing his Wellington plus others.
Dave is bringing his 10 foot Vulcan, large EE Lightning and Wellington.

Dave had promised me that one day he would attend one of my events,
lets hope we get some good weather and this year he will be able to fulfill his promise.

I am getting excited now.

Regards Phil G.

Dear All
Better late than never, I would like to thank all those who attended this event last Friday.
I have said this many times before, I can put these events on but if you good people
did not take days off and travel great distances to attend there would be no event full stop.

As always thank you very much for that, I/we do appreciate it.

I would like to thank my helpers, they are as follows.

Muffler
Dibble
Clive
Tony C.

I would also like to thank these people and groups

The Norfolk Gliding Club

Alan Bithrey (Pupcam) Trumpeter

The Spirit of Coltishall Association
Dave Welsh Master of ceremonies
John Welton Lone Piper
Derek ? Standard bearer

The Battle of Britain memorial flight
Spitfire MKII Flt.Lt. Antony Parkinson

Hardwick Warbirds
P51D Mustang 'Marinell' Maurice Hammond

Pitts Special Sqn.Ldr. (RAF Rtr) Steve Brownlow

Flightline Graphics, sponsors of the Battle of Britain Commemorative Trophy,
Which this year was awarded to the Spirit of Coltishall Association.

And last but not least Martin Bleasby (Guild of aviation artists)
For the magnificent painting of 'Marinell'.
Maurice seemed delighted with his painting.

And just to bring this to a close.
We had an incident where a model taxied into another model.
The person who suffered very minor damage over reacted to the situation.

I have now received an apology from that person
as has the other person involved in the incident.
So as far as I am concerned the matter is now closed.

Thank you all once again.

PS. If anyone is receiving emails purportedly from me please
don't click on the links as it seems my email has been hacked.

This event was to remember the courage, bravery and sacrifice
of those young boys, and now a days people take pleasure
in hacking peoples emails. I sometimes wonder what they fought for.

Dear All
For the first time in 8 years I am being allowed to hold a model commemorative event
at the former RAF Coltishall. The event is to commemorative the 10th anniversary
of the cessation of operational flying at Coltishall.

The event will be held on Friday the 8th of April and is open to any scale model
or any jet. If anyone would like to attend I will need your real name and vehicle registration.

10am until 6pm.

Every model must have a failsafe and BMFA or LMA insurance.
Proof of insurance will be required on the day.

A short remembrance ceremony will be held at midday.

Regards Phil G.

Dear All
Just two weeks to go until the Salute to the 445th Bomb Group event.
To be held at Tibenham airfield Norfolk UK NR16 1NT
Below are some pictures of three models that will be attending this event
and they all belong to Mudders.

Here is an interesting piece regarding the fullsize Mossie.

The full-size mossie has an interesting history for us Norfolk boys....

1942...

An interesting aircraft at Marham during this period was Mosquito IV DK296. Delivered to 105 Sqn as GB-K, by September 1942 it had been re-coded GB-G for Sqn Leader DAG (George) Parry, DSO, DFC, who had always used the code “G” on his aircraft. While with 105 Sqn it claimed one bird strike and a chimney pot! It was flown on most operations bt Sqn Ldr Parry including a raid on Gestapo HQ in Oslo on 25th September 1942 and the raid on the Philips factory on 6th December 1942. In mid 1943 Sqn Ldr WW Blessing crash-landed the Mosquito at Marham, breaking its back. DK296 was withdrawn from use on 24th August 1943, rebuilt and placed into store at No 10 Maintenance Unit at Hullavington. In September 1943 it was issued to 305 Ferry Training Unit at Errol, where it was given Russian markings and trained Russian crews who were converting to Albemarles. On 20th April 1944, DK296 was sent to Russia, being officially accepted there on 31st August 1944 and subsequently serving in the Red Air Force.

Piece supplied by Mudders.

Regards Phil G.

Dear All
I am pleased to announce that Nik Coleman,
from Nik Coleman television will be attending The
Salute to the 445th BG event at Tibenham airfiedd on Friday the 7th of July 2017,
complete with camera.

Nik's company was responsible for the Netflix documentary Plane Resurrection.
And more recently in collaboration with the Commemorative air force
they have made a documentary about a C47 named 'That's All Brother'
on D-Day.

Below is a Youtube link to a trailer of the program.

Apparently they do use models in some of their documentaries.

Dear All
If anyone is coming to Flying Legends at Duxford,
I shall be there on Sunday in the model area with
a Sepecat Jaguar, please come and say hello.

Detlef K. came and spoke to me last year,
what an engineering and modelling genius he is and also a very nice chap.

Dear All
I hope it is OK to post a link to a facebook video.
If it is not let me know and I will remove it.

Plane resurrection who normally make real aircraft videos
attended this event to try out some new equipment and let
the younger members of their team have a go at filming
aircraft all be it model aircraft.

Like most people they did not realise how big and sophisticated
the models can be and I think they really enjoyed their time with us.

They want to come back for the Battle of Britain event at Tibenham
which will be held on Friday the 29th of September 2017.

We had one loss when Lee R.'s Corsair's wing folded in level flight.
I have posted a picture below.

Was it an ESM Corsair that the wing departed from?

ForcesR, Yes I think it was, it is sold in the UK by a company known as YT International.
Below is a picture of the said Corsair, the second picture of the two Corsairs,
I believe the other Corsair is a Hangar 9.

As an aside this forum does not seem to allow the Facebook link.

Good day Phil; the ESM Corsair has a known flaw in the center wing section that results in the wing failing in flight. I have watched two ESM Corsairs at separate fun fly functions where the wing departed the aircraft while in flight.

Roger,
Thank you for your reply, it seems as the Corsair has an inherent fault.
The airframe costs £700 and another £400 for the retracts so it is not a
cheap model, it certainly should not break up in level flight.

There is something to be said for making the model yourself,
if it breaks then it is ones own fault.

Dear All
The VE-DAY / 100th anniversary of the Royal Air Force model aircraft event
to be held at Tibenham airfield UK NR16 1NT.
The event will be held on Friday the 4th of May 2018.

The BBMF
Lancaster is due to flyover this event at 11:45am (Local)

You might ask yourself what do the ice cream cones mean
on the side of the Lanc. The ice cream cones represent a raid
on an Italian target.

Dear All
There is a chance that Norfolk UK flying legend Maurice Hammond
will be attending this event as guest of honour.

It was a joy to behold, to witness Maurice's superb
displays on numerous occasions at Tibenham in either
of his magnificent Mustangs.

It would be really nice to see him back at Tibenham.
