RE: KMP New Spitfire Mk XIV
Thanks for all the info and suggested mods for the KMP Spitfire. Mine arrived last week and so far I have the wheel wells lined with thin ply and have the wing servos installed.
I've looked through the "YT spitfire thread in general" over at r/c flyers, but it is many pages...do you happen to know approximately which page has the engine mounting tutorial or perhaps it is somewhere else on the site??
I plan to do all the mods as mentioned by you...this is my first model with retracts so that part is a bit of a mystery, but I hope to sort it out...

RE: KMP New Spitfire Mk XIV
hello Vask,
I've got plenty of pilots that looks life-like.....
We just want to see how it was from the inside
But i saw many problems on the field
My wheels are to near from the CG[], and the nose over is near.
I'll have to work on the main gear to get the wheels a little forward and i 'll have to reduce the dimension of my tailwheel.
The maiden will happen later....[&o]

Thanks V2plus10,
i've just discover what was an helmet!!![sm=red_smile.gif].
As i 've said, i'll have to work on the gear before the maiden.
Hope it will be ready in a couple of weeks too.
What engine did you use, and how many lead have you put in the nose?
Mine need 640g without the pilot, and i use an OS 120ax

Hi Christophe,
I have a Saito 125 four stroke in mine. I have not yet tried to balance it. Everyone seems to have the same problem with the landing gear location and the nose over tendancy on the ground. Let us know how you solve the problem.

Hello Randy,
I do'nt know if i've solved the problem, but i win approximatively 20mm forward with the wheels axle line.
I put a 3mm ply under the rearward mounting plate of the retracts to rake the wheels forward.
I think that it could be enough...
Now, i will try to reduce my tail wheel....

Christophe,
Thank you for the picture and information. I spoke with a local club member last night and he has made the same adjustment as you did. He will also try moving the CG back about 10mm.

Hello Vik,
You will laugh..........
That's international dimensions!!!! and all type of exhaust.......
and aproximatively the same volume as the exhaust box for the 120AX
There are two Krummscheid 90° bend and 24mm inside diam.
Hope that could help...

RE: KMP New Spitfire Mk XIV
if done correct, they should have 5 blades, this has been done, by thoreson (spell) of, i think, norway, and whats more, it was electric!!! beutifull job too, as for the spinner, i had mine turned by an r/cflyers forum member, from solid billet, cost for this spinner was £80, about $200 cheaper option would be to contact Bob Holmann, US importer of Brian Taylor items, and ask if he has a spinner for the taylor plan, one of these has been used in the UK with great success

Never noticed it on the web site. Will look again. Or is this something you have to call for? What's the prop size? Have you run the prop and if so, what size engine do you recommend?
Thanks
Rick
Thanks

Haven't assembled it yet. Go to their forum, look under announcements & download their catalog. Its on page 14. Its a 15" prop. They recommend a RCV 120SP to turn it.

RE: KMP New Spitfire Mk XIV
Nini,
I am looking at the pics of your spitfire on the runway and was wondering what the runway is made of. It almost looks like a mat that can be rolled out or placed on top of the grass. It really looks like a great alternative to an asphalt runway, and may be something my club can look into. Any information would be appreciated.
Also thank you for the quick response to my earlier question about the 3 bladed spinner.
