Focke Wulf 190 1/4 Scale
Would imagine Stuart has taken the issues "off-line". Don't percieve him to be the kind of guy who would deal with a particular problem such as this on a public forum - which to be honest is the way to handle it really?!

Focke Wulf 190 1/4 Scale
Schroedm,
Look back through the posts. Stuart Mackay was the one who chose to start these issues in this public forum by his post on 11\24\02. So I'll perceive him to be exactly that... a guy\businessman, who chooses to bring his issues to a public forum. Not one who addresses his customers issues in a timely, business like manner, in an off-line setting.
I have yet to receive any contact from him concerning anything I posed, in any of my posts.
Quite honestly... I feel it is a mistake on his part, not to answer any question or statement directed at him. After all, he is the one who chose to "chime in" when he did, and in the manner he did it.

Schroedm,
Nothing to be sorry for. You were just trying to throw a little water on a smoldering pile of wood.
By no means do I want to seem like I am trying to "bash" Stuart Mackay. As a matter of fact... I would like to move away from this portion of the thread and get back to the building and enjoyment of this airplane and that of the hobby.
I invite Stuart to email me with any of his thoughts about what I wrote, knowing that it will remain between he and I.

RE: Scale Retracts
I've been following this thread off and on since it began. I was one of the first few, I think the 5th in the US to get this airplane from Stuart. I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again. I found him to be a straight up guy, and I personally think his product is superb. Yes, I am well aware of it's flaws...but I would like you to try and find a better warbird, by that I mean overall qualitty wise...not cost wise, as I know this one is pricey. I also have to state that I didn't build mine, wound up selling it, and yes I do regret it! As for airing things on a public forum...that is one way to take care of things, but personally I would prefer a one to one communication. Just my thoughts.

RE: Scale Retracts
I still have mine and it flies absolutely unbelievable. ROCK STEADY. I'm convinced you could "almost" teach someone to fly on one of these 190's. Not land though.
All the modifications away from scale show up in its flight performance.
Personally... Deal with Airworld directly.

RE: Scale Retracts
I just flew my 101" Meister Fw-190 yesterday. BME 61 and CJ Gear.
It's a real insult to my "no hangar queens" philosophy that I've flown it so little in 2 years. I think it takes off, flies, and lands straighter and easier than any warbird I've ever flown. Flies like and air-to-air missile with the gear up.
The reason I fly it so sparingly is the gear. Very flimsy, even for prop-flipping, and I've had to re-build and re-inforce both wings for minor landing bobbles. Usually (fortunately), it can greased in like a trainer because it's such a smooth, straight flyer.
I love Sierra Gear's stuff, but Darrell says I can't fit his 190 gear in a Meister without MAJOR wing mods, and I hate to do that since it flies so well as is.
Any ideas?

RE: Scale Retracts
Ok guys....
Our little side company R/C Scale Products is importing the Airworld FW 190 kit into the US now. you can visit our site at:
http://www.rcscaleproducts.com and click on the KITS link.
A couple of notes about this model.
1. We do not recommend putting the 215cc radial on it... WAYYYYYY too much power!
2. Like Stuart we do not recommend modifying the wing structure any. This model has a great deal of structural strength. You would just be adding weight.
3. The airworld gear is plenty stout enough for the model. Sierra's gear works great in it too if you want the gear to be a bit more scale.
4. We add the customer with a 54 page instruction manual and, several formers to help mount other engines and the tail wheel mech.
5. This model is SPORT SCALE.. It's a great model to take to warbird fly-ins but is NOT a competition grade model!
If you would like more info you can email us off the site or give us a call after 6:00pm CST. We have real jobs during the day!

RE: Focke Wulf 190 1/4 Scale
Meister-Scale makes a 1/4 scale cockpit for the Fw 190. The plane itself is just a tiny tiny bit off of 1/4 scale. Its something like 1/4.045 scale
I'm actually using this as the cockpit but adding a bit more detail with this once I modify it for the Dora:
